'When I opened my eyes, all I could see was darkness. I rubbed my hands against my eyes and tried to see again, but I was still enveloped in darkness. I reached up and my hand collided with a hard object. I felt all around me and came to a conclusion that I was in a small tight space. Outside I heard a car horn and I came to the realization that I was trapped in a trunk. Then it hit me. He had found me.'
I put my favorite book down beside me on the bed and stretched my legs. It was only six o'clock and I still hadn't finished my homework. I was usually on top of things like this but the book was just calling out for me to read it from the bookshelf. It was about a girl who got kidnapped and had to escape. I love reading books like that because I like to imagine what I would do in situations like those.
I got up from my bed and made my way to my desk. Just as I finished my work I heard a beep from my phone. I grabbed it from the side of the desk and found that Leah, my best friend, had texted me.
The text read, "Hey girl are you up for the party Friday night? You have to go!"
I texted her back replying, "I can't, I have to study."
Within seconds I got a reply saying, "Aria Moore, you have to experience high school life! Your parents are leaving for the weekend anyway so I am making you come! I'll see you tomorrow at school!"
"Fine," I replied and threw my phone onto the bed. I hated going to parties. Well not all parties, just the ones that involved drinking, sex, and immature people. Oh wait, that's basically all the parties Leah goes to. She only wants to go to Sean's party because the guy she likes is going to be there. She still hasn't even told me who she likes yet which is a shocker to me because we always tell each other everything. Leah and I have known each other since Preschool because our moms were friends. We have been best friends ever since.
"Aria!" I heard my dad yell from downstairs, "Come down for dinner!"
"Coming," I replied while getting up and going downstairs.
Both my parents sat at the table with plates of pasta in front of them. I sat down at an empty seat and scooped some for myself. Pasta was one of my favorite foods. I wasn't a picky eater so I basically ate anything anyone gave me.
"Where are you going this time?" I asked my parents, scooping a forkful of pasta into my mouth.
"Out to California to give a presentation for one of our new products," my dad replied. My dad was the CEO of some cell phone company and my mom was his right hand man, or should I say woman. Because of their high positions they had to travel a lot and meet with important people all around the world. People always feel sorry for me when I tell them that I'm left alone for weeks at a time but I really couldn't care less. They trusted me to take care of myself as well as the house and in turn I got the house to myself, so it was a win-win situation. Plus, they always left me money to use while they were away. A lot of money. Thanks to their jobs we were very rich. We lived in a large house in the rich part of the neighborhood. I guess that's another reason why Leah and I were such good friends. Her parents were very rich too which lead us to go to the same private Preschool together.
I looked at my plate. "Bring me back something cool, okay?" I asked. He smiled and nodded his head.
After eating, I went upstairs and took a shower and got in bed. It was only seven o'clock by then but I was already so tired. I was not looking forward to tomorrow for one because Leah is going talk about the party she was forcing me to go to and two tomorrow was Friday! I needed to clear my mind so I closed my eyes and pictured cotton candy horses running in a field of skittles because why not, right?
