Michael's POV

November 26th was a Thursday morning that started as every other. I got up at 7 and went to my mirror to fix myself up today for class. I looked at my hair, which was spread in a thousand different directions. It was currently dyed a chili pepper red color. I got out my brush and fiercely combed it and of course a ton of it fell out, but that's okay. I put on a green day Tee and some jeans and converse and hopped in my car, off to my happy place before class.

The only thing that really woke me up these days and got me focused and to be myself was caffeine. I was addicted to it, and I constantly needed it so I could think straight. You know how some people are alcoholics and it makes them happy? I was a caffeiniholic and it made me very happy.

I pulled into the parking lot and jumped out. The local Starbucks was small, and didn't have a drive through so I had to constantly get out and actually go into the store. Ugh.

When I walked in, the atmosphere was all the same. I walked up to the counter as I always did, about to order my daily drink. I literally never changed the order around. It was always the same.

The worker, Ashton, always took my Order and made my drink and I liked him, the guy was super friendly. I guess you can consider us friends. I don't have many friends. But from what it seems, we've been good friends for a year and a half now.

"Hey Michael!" Ashton piped up as he dashed to the register. Ashton was a tall muscular boy with shaggy long brown hair and dimples. He was adorable in my opinion. I wasn't saying this in a creepy way, I'm pretty sure anyone would agree with me.

"Hey Ash." I replied, digging through my bag to find something for class. "Just the usual?" Ashton reconfirms. "Mmhmm" I hum back as I still continue rummaging through my things. "Where is it? Where is it?" I thought in my head.

I heard the machine to make the drink turn on and churn. I looked up to see Ashton with one of his large hands on the cup and the other pressing down on the machine. Sometimes I thought watching Ashton make drinks was entertaining. He was very good at it.

After he handed me my daily special, I paid and hopped back in my car and speeded down the road.

I was almost late to class, but I made it. My best friend and one of my only friends, Calum, patted the open seat next to him. I nodded to him with a cheeky smile and then sat and began to dig through my bag yet again.

I couldn't find it.

I jumped at the boom of Professor Green's voice as he said, "please everyone who hasn't turned in your fall assignment, do so now. I felt a shiver run through my body as I got up and went to his desk.

"Excuse me, uh, Professor Green?" I asked timidly, since the man did scare me. He looked up from the newspaper that was propped in his lap and frowned at me. "I had my assignment last night. I did. In my bag. Then..." I shut my lips as I saw professor Green open his mouth. "Enough Clifford! You always have been using excuses ever since I had you in my class. I've been letting them slide, but it's getting fucking ridiculous!" He looked angrily at me, then sighed. "Michael, this is your last chance. Turn in another late assignment, and I'm going to have to kick you out of this class." I nodded and quickly added, "I'll turn it in tomorrow!"

After class and the day, I went for my afternoon/evening coffee. I drove to the same exact local Starbucks and walked in. But, this time, the atmosphere was different then it had been that morning. It smelled of vanilla and sweet cinnamon. I looked up to the register and expected to see my buddy Ashton, but I didn't.

Instead, behind that register was a boy I'd never seen working there. He was very tall, I'd say 6'4, but he was skinny and he had blonde hair that was light but went dirty blonde at the roots. He had perfect sharp blue eyes and a lip ring. He had very very light stubble and a very very adorable smile.

Uh oh.

I stared blankly at the perfect human being right in front of me. I hesitantly walked up to the counter and I tried to meet his eyes as he greeted me with a friendly, "hello!" "Hhhh..hhh..hi." I said in my shaky voice. "Welcome to the starbs. My name is Luke. What's yours?" I watched the boy, oh uhm, Luke, lean across the counter towards me. I backed up a bit since I was so awkward. "Michael." I managed to say. "What's your last name?" Asked Luke curiously as he put his hand on his chin and smirked. "Clifford...." I said, caught up in the moment. "Michael Clifford. Michael. Clifford. Michael Michael Michael. Clifford Clifford Clifford." I watched, very confused as Luke pursed his lips together and said my name on repeat. After a while he finally chirped,

"I like it."

I stayed quiet because I was more confused than ever. I just waited for him to ask what I wanted to drink.

"Michael! Michael! Is that you?" I heard Ashton's voice and looked behind Luke to see Ashton making a drink and smiling. Then he walked up to Luke. "Hey, I've seen you met our new worker here, Luke." Ashton laughed as he patted the tall lanky blondie on the shoulder. "Yeah. Yeah I have." I spoke quietly, since I didn't know what to say. "Good luck with the order Luke, this guys got a hard one but I think you'll get it down some day." I watched Ashton do a pivot turn back to the whipped cream station and I turned back to Luke as he asked sheepishly, "what would you like today?"

"More like everyday." I corrected him.

"Fine," he sighed, "what do you like EVERYDAY?" He asked sarcastically with a grin.

"A Venti Carmel macchiato, with skim milk, an extra shot, extra hot, extra whip, and sugar free."
