Chapter 4

Every damn day I feel his eyes on me even if he's not present in the room I feel them, ever since that night in the hospital wing he's been watching me, examining me. So I decided to play his little game, I play the little innocent Morana Wells that I'm meant to be. Today is somehow different, his eyes haven't seemed to leave me, not once.

After the events of this week, the crew and I haven't been able to meet therefore none of us know or have the slightest idea of what the others know nor what to do with the plan and what happens next. This plan has taken place over the last 9 months now so there is no stopping it now, especially when we don't have Meeri. I will stop at nothing till she's standing before me and I can reach out and feel the warmth of her skin, they don't get to take her from me and not get absolute destruction in return.

We were outside for the second day in a row, today the King and Queen were accompanied by Radens family as they were having brunch. The Queen's have their ladies with them and the King's have one knight be each of them.
Raden wasn't included in their conversations due to him being a knight to the King despite being the son of the man and woman sitting before us. It was quite amusing watching him scowl and scoff with every word exchanged between the Kings and Queens.

Unfortunately I was pulled from my thoughts as I felt Radens lingering eyes on me once again, I bring my own to his. We hold contact for what feels like merely an eternity but in reality it was 2 minutes.
After quite a while Radens family leaves to their corridors since saying for their visit. I end up making my way down to the tunnels after sneaking off, finally without Radens presence behind me.

I step into the part of the tunnels with the stone table to find the crew, more specifically Kian and Miles throwing extremely creative insults at one another. I simply shake my head, a small grin sneaking onto my lips as my feet make way through the shadows of the room. My feet stop just behind the twins as I smirk before jumping out, grabbing them both. Screams that are way too high for men are bounced off the walls and laughter follows behind, "Bloody hell, Ro! You have got to stop that!!" Miles breaths as he bends over trying not to have a heart attack.
All the laughter in the room freezes and looks are exchanged around as I stood as still as a statue due to the name but I quickly brush it off and get back to the meeting as nothing happened.

Miles is the first to speak, "Um, the King had sent me to the dungeons for watch duty," a loud, "Pfff!" Broke the silence of the tunnels and all our heads snapped to Nerissa who's eyes widened as she slapped her hands over her mouth, a sheepish expression clouded her face. "Sorry..." her mumbles are barely heard behind her hands yet I wave it off.

"I found Meeri, she's locked in the dungeons. Shouldn't be too hard to break her out." My arms crossed as I moved closer, desperately trying to hear more about her. He's hesitant at first, "She, uh, she looks lost, empty even, we need to get her out of there now!"
The crew's faces dropped and before I knew it I was getting shouted at, "Kai, we should of had her out by now!", one voice rang, "Yee swore to never leave a mate behind!" And another. Many more followed which only caused my temper to burn hotter and I stopped the yells being thrown as I slammed the bottom of my fist to the stone beneath.

I let out a hot breath trying to compose myself, but before I uttered a word someone else's was heard, "We're getting Meeri out Kai, whether it be with you or without." My fist tightens, "We will but not now. Raden is watching closely and if he suspects anything," my eyes travel to every soul in the room, "we're all dead, got that?"

They each exchange glances and some agreeing nods, "We are getting her out by nightfall tomorrow." Nerissa tells.
"Do whatever you damn well please!" My voice thickens, "but don't expect me to be caught dead with you all when your plan fails when they catch you!!" Kian steps up, his face stern and arms crossed, "They won't catch us." I scoff before stepping so close to him the tips of our boots touch.

"They might not but Kaiser will." Kians face falters for a split second before he hides it. "He'd be pleased we'd succeeded. Unlike you..." None of them wait for me as they all start to come up with a plan to save Meeri by tomorrow.

Kian sets his palms on the table, leaning in, "I'll go down there and tell her the plan then we move from there." My mouth opens as they all agree and start to walk out of the room. This just pisses me off more because they know too well not to make plans without my permission because that's what the Captain ordered.
I stare straight on, "Kian!!" My angry and annoyed voice carried which caused them to all turn. Kians looks at me as if I bored him, "What do you want now Kairo." As soon as the words flew out, my hands were gripped on the collar of his shirt as I slammed him into the wall.

He hissed and grunted at the sudden contact with the stone, I inched my face closer to his, "What did you just call me Lamport?!" My question spitting with fire.

He dared to push his head closer, "I said. What do you want. Princess Kairo." He snarls and that lands him a knee to the abdomen and one nasty right hook, and not a mouth in the room tries to speak knowing my temper and witnessing it with former crew members which lead to them now being known as "former".

"What makes you think you have the authority to make a decision without me?" My grip is so tight on his collar that my fingers are turning white. He does nothing but scoff, which leads me to repeat myself yet all he does is roll his eyes before catching mine. "It's not like you ever cared about Meeri getting out, you never did." I take my hands off of him as I back away.
I scoff, "Why the hell wouldn't I care about her? Of course I care for her, I've known her my entire life damnit!" My anger returning more than before. "You don't care for anyone Kairo, there's a reason you're so well known and it's not exactly for your kind heart..." He makes a point, "why would Meeri be any different. Everyone standing here knows you wouldn't move things faster to save us either," I look around and everyone is looking down avoiding my eyes.

"Look at me..." My tone near a whisper, seeing none of them move sets something off inside me, "LOOK AT ME!!" Each and every head snaps to me.

I chuckle, "Is that what you all think of me? Is it?!" From Farran to Miles they all nod or simply say "yes" showing that it was in fact true. The next thing I saw was red as I brought my balled fist to the stone wall behind me and started to punch. Gasps are all I hear as my vision blurs and I lose all feeling in my knuckles, I can feel the liquid running down my forearms, soaking my clothes beneath.
"For fucks sake, someone stop her!" I hear Farrens shouts,
"Kai, stop it, you have to stop!" Nerissa yells next to me,
Two pairs of arms grab ahold of me as I'm yanked back, my arms slump down to my sides and as my vision starts to become clear it finds my bloodied and cracked knuckles.
I let out a sigh, "I care for Meeri, much more than any of you will ever know. More than she will ever believe." I mutter just loud enough for them all the hear. I bring my head up to their level, "don't ever try and question my ability to care or even love, again," my hands open and close as I start to regain feeling in them. "I might surprise you...now I will be the one to go down to the dungeon tomorrow whether any of you like it or not, understand?" I don't wait for a response before I start to leave.
"What about the Queen,won't she or Raden notice your absence, what then?" Makani stops me. I shake my head, "The Queen couldn't care less about one of her ladies and Raden is accompanying my father and Kierian to Hystoria to meet the King and Queen to discuss Kierian and the princess of Hystoria potentially getting married.

"We can't have the prince marrying the princess, what of the deal we made with them, what if they tell the king?" I shake my head, "They won't utter a word to them. They only know of me, none of your names were mentioned. The captain and I made sure of it". She signed along with the others, "And if they do decide to break the deal they know the consequences of it so it shouldn't become a problem." I reassure.
