Chapter one
Sometimes I think that cartoons are just for young kids. But then a cartoon turns on and I get sucked into it. No matter how idiotic or stupid, the cartoon will have me staring blankly at the TV screen. Somehow this happens a lot. Well, on one fateful day, exactly this happened. One of my younger brother's favorite shows came on. Of course, I got sucked into the show. So sucked in that I didn't really pay attention to the knock at the door. So sucked in that I didn't pay attention to the FBI agents that my parents let in. So sucked in that I didn't feel that tap on my shoulder. But I did feel it when my mom shook me and brought me back to the real world. I looked at my mom behind me. Now I noticed the FBI agents.
"Mom? Uh, what's going on here?" I asked, nervous and scared. The looked at me with a sad smile, as if there was something I should know but don't. That was exactly the case.
" Alyssa, I should have told you sooner. I should have told you when you were younger so this wouldn't come as a shock. Alyssa, you aren't my daughter. I'm not your mom. Your dad isn't your dad. We're stand-ins for your real planet. Fourteen years ago humanoid aliens came to Earth and left behind a baby. That baby was you. Because you are the offspring of aliens, the FBI has decided to help you learn your original culture, and help you develop your special abilities," my mom said quietly. I just stared at her. My heart pounded. Then it clicked; this was a prank!
" Okay, haha guys. This is just some prank and my friends will jump out from behind the couch any second,"I said, hoping that to be true. I got up and peered behind the couch, seeing none of my friends.
"Mom? Where are my friends?" I questioned, nervous. She looked at the floor. My dad put his hand on my shoulder. I looked back at him, then at the agents. My palm started to tingle. My hands shook. I looked down at my left hand and saw a scary sight. The back of my hand was turning blue! A rich, dark blue color spread form the center of my back hand to my fingers. It spread slowly, enveloping my skin with a blue sheen. My mouth slowly opened. My eyes widened. Then my other hand took on the blue color. It started to spread up my arm. A realization that I was TURNING BLUE finally reached my brain and I panicked. I looked at the agents.
"Help!" I pleaded to the agents. One of them stepped forward.
"It's alright. For your race, this is normal for your age. You look humanoid until around thirteen, then you take on your natural color," he explained. How did he know this?
"We must take you with us to a research center, until we can contact your real parents," he said. My real parents?
" I'll get to meet my real parents?" I asked quietly. My heart pounded.
"And, with luck, you'll go back with them," he told me, calm as a sleeping kitten," And, with that, it's time to go." He headed for the door, the other agent following behind him. I looked over at my mom. She gestured for me to go with them. Tears swarmed my eyes. I was confused. I was scared. I was leaving behind the only life I knew. My mom handed me a back pack. It had some clothes on it, some books, some paper and pens, and a charger for my phone. I took it. Putting it in my back, I hugged my mom then my dad. And, with that, I left with the agents.Chapter Two
My arms had already taken the blue on. I sat in the government car, enduring the shock and confusion of what was going on. Then a thought hit me: what if there are others like me? Maybe wherever these agents are taking me will have others like me! Maybe I'll make a friend! I hope that's the case. My shoulders started to turn blue, then it spread to my chest. My stomach area was already blue, and my legs were taking on the blue rapidly. Once my feet were all blue, my neck began to turn blue. It spread up my chin and across my cheeks and forehead. I thought that because all of me was blue, it was over. Then my hair took on a purple color.
"My hair!" I exclaimed. In if the agents turned around in his seat.
"That's also normal. Once a person of your race gets their true color, their hair turns to their other personality side," he told me.
"Personality side?" I asked, confused. He looked at my hair, then my skin.
"When your real parents left you, they told us this would happen. They told us what the colors meant. Others of your kind may have as many as five colors. Looks like you have three," he said. Three? I looked down at my hands. They were yellow! My heart raced. I didn't understand.
"So what are my personality traits that go with my colors?" I asked.
"Blue is creativity. Yellow is shyness. Purple is hope. Alyssa, look at your feet," he replied. I looked down. My feet had turned green!
"Green is selflessness. So another thing, red and orange are common. They mean strength and justice. Yellow and green are uncommon. Blue is rare. And purple is almost never seen," he remarked.
"So my kind doesn't have a lot of hope?" I asked.
"Almost none. But you, Alyssa, you are the hope. Alyssa, you are the princess of your kind," he stated. Wow. Im a princess. That sunk in, and my eyes widened. My whole life I've been a nobody. I've gone to school like everyone else. I've done my homework, watched TV, eaten ice cream, hung out with my friends. Now all of that is over. I am now a princess of a strange alien race. Now I'm blue, yellow, purple, and green. The agents are going to try to contact my people to return me home. I took my phone out of my bag and opened messages. I texted all my friends: "I'm going away. Just me. Not my parents or my brother. Just me. You'll never see me again. I'm sorry. I can't get out of it, because it's for the government. I'll miss you." After I texted them I sadly turned off my phone. A flood of messages stormed my phone. I decided to only answer a few. I opened messages and went to my best friend Karissa. She had texted: "What? Why are you going away?" I sighed. If I told, she wouldn't understand. I don't even understand. I said: "You wouldn't understand." Tears swarmed my eyes, taking over. One rolled down my cheek. Karissa texted again: "Just tell me. I won't tell anyone else." It's not like I need it to be a secret. I texted Karissa: "My parents aren't my real parents. I'm actually from another planet. I have to go back home. There, I am a princess." I said. She replied: "Okay. I believe you." I sighed a sigh of relief. Then my boyfriend, Lucian, texted: "Okay. I love you." That was it. It made more tears come.
"Are there others like me on Earth?" I asked the agent.
"Not of your kind. At the facility there is a girl who had the same thing happen to her that happened to you. We're still trying to contact her parents," he replied. Good. Maybe We'll be friends
"What is she like?" I asked, hoping for a good answer.
"Her name is Sylvia. She is fourteen. She is from the planet Terraccomadopalo. She has skin like an opal, forever changing color. It changed to her mood," he told me.
"What's the name of the planet I'm from?" I questioned. He looked me straight on
"Ragonhamphalion," he replied. I repeated the name over and over in my head. What's good is that Sylvia and I are both fourteen. I hope we'll be friends.
"How much longer?" I pleaded. The agent turned to look at me.
"A long time," he replied. I sighed, bored. I couldn't really text my friends, they'd ask too many questions. I couldn't play a game, I'd beaten all of them. I took out the book of been reading the past week. I opened to the page I was on and took out the book mark. I tried to focus on the words on the page but couldn't. What was going on was too overwhelming.
"Is that a good book?" The agent asked. He was much nicer than agents in movies. Maybe he's being nice because I'm young.
"Yeah, it's only okay," I replied, half-hearted. Then my phone buzzed with a text. I looked at it. It was from my other best friend, Emmaline. She had texted:"Karissa told me what's up. She and I were getting fro-yo and she whispered it to me. She made me swear to not tell anyone." I sighed. At least she only told Emmaline. A raindrop fell on the window, making me peer out the window. We were passing by a small town. The people on the sidewalks gawked at the car when they saw the FBI logo on the side. I saw a girl who looked my age holding a boys hand. That would never happen to me. I miss Lucian so much. I miss his smile and his eyes. I wish there was a way for him to come too. But even if there was, I bet he'd want it stay with his family, because he can always find another pretty girl to hold hands with. As we rode out into open country again, the car sped up. I looked out the window and saw we were going really fast. That's what my life is like right now. If I'm a space ship, someone put me into hyper drive. The rain outside came fast and heavy, pounding on the took of the car. I saw lightning in the distance, illuminating the dark sky. I pulled out my phone and looked at the weather. It couldn't tell me really, because I didn't know where we were going. I decided to get out my notebook and think of what I'd say to Sylvia. I placed the tip of my blue pen on the paper, pausing. I didn't know what to write, or what to say. Then I just decided to write and not stop. I like your shirt, I wrote. No, that's too generic. Hi, my name is Alyssa. I just found out I'm an alien. Yes, thats better. We started to approach another town. This on was much bigger.
"Can in roll my window down?" I pleaded to the agents.
"Only for a little bit," one replied. I pushed the button to make it go down. I looked out that window as we passed by the town. People gawked at the car. Probably because of the FBI logo.
"Mom, why does that girl have blue skin?" A boy asked, just within earshot. Then I realized; they weren't gawking at the logo, they were gawking at me! That made me instantly push the button for the window to go up. My heart raced. I'm a freak, I thought. But once I get home, I'll be a princess.
