Cariwas currently sitting in her room, copying geometry notes when suddenly, her phone vibrated against the pillow beside her. She tucked a blonde strand behind her ear as she smiled at the caller ID: D. HALE
She answered, putting the phone up to her ear. "What do you want, twerp?"
He chuckled, "Just wanted to hang with my best girl."
She was fighting a smile, "How did you even know I was back home?"
"You updated your status on MySpace."
Cari arched her brow, "Stalker."
Derek rolled his eyes playfully, "I wasn't stalking—" he paused, shaking his head. "Never mind, not the point. Just come out with me."
"I want to," she admitted to him; it almost felt like she was admitting to something else. "But you know I can't."
Derek knew why she couldn't, yet he persisted, "Please?"
Her heart jumped as his plead, "I — I don't know."
"Open your balcony door."
She hesitated, narrowing her eyes at the balcony doors before walking toward them. "This better not be a..." she trailed off, her eyes widening as she noticed him standing a few feet away from her on her balcony; a huge smile surfaced on his face when their eyes met. "Derek?"
He smirked, hanging up the phone. "Hey, Car."
She pulled him into her room, shutting the balcony door behind him. "What are you doing here? How did you even get up here?"
"I missed you," he reached for her hand, taking a step closer to her, causing her heart to beat dangerously fast. He ears perked up at the sound of it, causing him to smile.
She cracked a smile, pulling him by his hand and falling into his arms for a hug. "I missed you too, dork."
He chuckled, tightening his grip on her waist, breathing into her neck, "Good," she pulled away slowly, looking into his blue orbs. His face was so close to hers, and his cologne was the best kind of intoxicating. "Vanilla and rose."
She rolled her eyes, letting out a small laugh, "Those are the base notes of my perfume, and you're the only one that can smell it. How do you do that?"
