The night of Beca and Jesse's gig came quickly. Neither of them told their respective a capella groups that they sang as a duo until Jesse accidentally let it slip to Ashley after class the day before the gig and the girl asked Beca about it at practice with all of the Bella's around. Needless to say, Chloe called a Bella's bonding night and all the girls were crowded around a couple tables in the quaint coffee shop just off campus.
Beca was nervous. She really shouldn't be, they have the music down and they sound good but she can't help being nervous when there was a red headed goddess sitting twenty feet away from her. So no, she hasn't really gotten over Chloe but she's trying. She still couldn't wrap her head around what the girl told her the other day at their coffee day. Beca wanted to know what the red head was really confused about. She's just glad that semi-finals in a week and a half is the only big thing left before spring break. She desperately needed time to clear her head.
Jesse came up behind her giving her a slap on her back sporting his boyish grin. "You ready B?" She turned around and let out a breath before grinning. "Yeah, I think so." He grinned right back. "Good, now let's go serenade our lady loves." With that he walked off towards the stage and Beca could only bulge her eyes out at her friend before shaking her head and hurrying to catch up to him. They both walked onto the stage with roars of applause from the Bella's and a few other patrons. Jesse settled himself on the Cajon while Beca picked up her acoustic guitar and looked out at the audience. She locked eyes with Chloe and they both smiled and stared at each other long enough that Beca almost forgot what she was up there to do. Jesse cleared his throat and the brunette snapped back and glanced at the rest of the audience.
She laughed into the microphone while figuring out what she was going to say. "Hi I'm Beca." She gave a little wave, "and over here is Jesse and we actually don't have a name or anything yet, but we're going to play some covers for you tonight and we hope you enjoy." The two agreed early on to start off the show with something that would hopefully grab everyone's attention. Beca started singing Macklemore's "Can't Hold Us" and strumming her guitar before Jesse came in with the beats. Chloe gasped and smiled brightly when the brunette kept perfect time during the rap sections, even throwing her own twist in here and there. The brunette was in the groove and looked so suave no one could even deny it. When the song ended Cynthia Rose threw in the loudest holler and made the brunette blush as Jesse quickly made his way over to his guitar to start the next song.
After a few songs, everyone seemed to really be enjoying the set. Beca couldn't help but look at the Bella's during most of the songs, mainly Chloe but she tried her hardest to gaze at everyone. Jesse was unintentionally wooing many of the ladies with his boyish charms when he took the lead during JT's "Suit & Tie," ignoring many of the whistles and calls thrown his way. He made sure to look directly at Ashley when he sang "Sure Thing" by Miguel, which made Aubrey give him a warning glare as soon as she noticed the pair making googly eyes at each other while Jessica and Denise both gave the brunette girl a teasing nudge. All the girls in the coffee shop swooned hard core when both brunette's started singing Journey's "Faithfully" which made Beca grin at the collective reaction.
Chloe couldn't help but melt when she listened to the small brunette croon out the lyrics. It's been one of the red heads favorite songs since she was little and she knew the brunette knew this. She told Beca one night after the red head showed up at the girls dorm room in the middle of the night because she couldn't sleep. It wasn't because of a Tom thing; she was restless for unknown reasons and decided to take a midnight stroll, not remembering why she thought it was a good idea at the time but eventually made her way towards Beca's out of habit. She remembered Beca being so sweet that night. Kimmy Jin was out so they had the freedom to laugh and talk while cuddled on her bed. When the red head told her that she loved the song, Beca proceeded to softly sing it to her which made the red head relax in the girls arms and drift off in to the most peaceful slumber she had in a long time.
