Kagome sighed as she put water over the fire. The night had been ruff, she was woken up by every sound around her. She didn't feel comfortable falling asleep in this new world she was thrown into. She had no clue what kind of place she was dropped in.

Even though Midoriko said it would be a good place for her, she still had her worries. This place could be way different than where she was from...or it could be very close to the same. So far with all the nature and clean air, it reminded her of the Fudeal Era.

"Alright..time to find out some information," Kagome muttered to herself as she left the cave,

weapons strapped and near her for fast use...just in case. She wanted to be on guard until she knew more about where she was. For now, she would try to find others....a village..town or even a random person. Kagome needed information....and that wasn't something she could do in the middle of a forest.

Kagome's feet crunched over the forest floor, her senses on high alert as she gathered supplies curvayed her surroundings. The morning sun filtering through the dense canopy, she scanned the area for anything useful. In her hands, she carried a bundle of sturdy sticks and dried grass for kindling. Her bow and quiver were slung across her back, ready in case of danger.

"Alright," she muttered to herself, crouching to inspect some edible-looking berries. Her memories of survival lessons from Kaede and Sango served her well, and she picked only what she recognized. The weight of her situation pressed on her, but she forced herself to focus on the tasks at hand.

"If I can't find a village soon, at least I'll have enough to last a few more days." Unbeknownst to her, red eyes watched her from the shadows of the forest and put something in her path. On a log, by the river a bundle of red laid neatly folded.

Kagome froze as her eyes took in the red object that stood out in the green forest. She moved closer setting her bag other thing she had gathered next to the wood stump that the fabric of some sort was on. She bent down to inspect it, her fingers hesitating just above its surface. The texture looked delicate yet strong, and the crimson hue was unlike anything she had seen before.

"What is this?" she murmured, glancing around nervously. Her instincts told her this was no ordinary find, "Snake skin?" She muttered quietly as she let her fingers touch the skin again. It isn't something she had seen before.

A low chuckle broke the silence, and Kagome stood up, whirled around, her hand darting to the hilt of her sword. Emerging from the shadows with a fluid grace was the tall, angular figure. Long red hair, with red eyes, but what really caught her attention was that his naked chest that went into the body of a snake.

'Demon?' Kagome asked herself, but she didn't feel anything demonic coming from him. She stood her ground, watching the mans move as his eyes tracked her every movement.

"Do you like it?" he asked, nodding toward the shed skin. "The shedding?."

Kagome's grip on her sword tightened, though she didn't draw it. She didn't understand why he was asking this, "Why?" She was hesitant to talk to this man, but he seemed more curious about her than seeing her as a threat.

Kagome watched him come closer, he was still a few feet away, giving he spaced. But with him coming closer she could see how big he was. His snake part of his body was long and knew he could do serious damage if he tried to attack her.

"The shedding is mine. Do you like it?" He asked, tilting his head, some of his long hair falling over his shoulder,

"Yours?" she echoed, her voice steady but cautious.

The man nodded, "Yes. Mine." A sly smile playing on his lips. "Freshly shed. A token, if you will." He moved closer, his movements as silent as a shadow. "What do you think of the color?"

Kagome glanced back at the skin, then at him. Despite her unease, she couldn't deny its striking beauty. "It's... a beautiful shade of red," she admitted reluctantly.

His smile widened, revealing sharp teeth. "I'm glad you think so," he said, his tone smooth and coaxing. "If you like it, you should accept it. Take it as a sign of my interest."

Kagome's brow furrowed in confusion. "Interest?"

The man's gaze intensified, his red eyes locking onto hers. "As my female," he clarified. "If you admire my skin, why not accept it and become mine?"

Kagome's mouth opened and closed as she struggled to process his words. Her cheeks flushed, and she took an instinctive step back. "I... I don't even know you," she stammered. "I can't just agree to something like that without getting to properly know you.."

The man tilted his head, curiosity replacing some of his amusement. "And what would it take, then, to earn your acceptance?"

Drawing herself up, Kagome met his gaze with newfound resolve. "I won't mate with anyone without getting to know them first," she said firmly. "If you're serious about this, you'd have to court me. Prove that you're someone I can trust."

She didn't know if she wanted a mate as he was implying either. She didn't know anything about this world to let alone try to be in a relationship with someone. Kagome took a deep breath, "Also, knowing your name would be a good start..."

For a moment, the man was silent, his expression unreadable. Then, a slow grin spread across his face. "Court you, hmm? Interesting. Very well, female, Consider this the beginning of my efforts."

Kagome watched him move closer so he was right infront of her. She could reach out and touch him if she wanted too.

"As for my name. Curtis is what I am called. And you little female? What is your name?" His towering frame loomed but did not threaten. Instead, his voice softened, almost teasing.

"Kagome. My name is Kagome." She told him, still hesitant on what this man was. He wasn't a demon, but she was in a new world...so maybe a creature that was normal here. He felt more animal than human too...so manye she was in a world with only animal like creatures. Her mind was going a mile a minute but she was brought out of her thoughts by Curtis talking.

"Then Kagome. I hope to court you. You are the first female that hasn't run away at the sight of me, a feral." Curtis told her, making Kagome file the word 'feral' for later. It meant something by how he said it.

Kagome blinked at him, unsure how to respond."I don't scare easily, but that doesn't mean I'm foolish. If you're serious about courting, it's going to take more than compliments and tokens." She wanted to make sure he knew there was a chance he column't woo her like he thinks he could. Though what he said about females running away from him did make her wonder why. He hasn't done anything threatening to her...yet. So she would have to stay on guard to see if there is something else.

Curtis chuckled a rich sound that sent shivers down her spine. "Oh, I plan to do much more than that. This is only the beginning, Kagome."

"Then how about we start on finding the closest village?" Kagome wanted to find somewhere safe to be. She also needed so see what kind of information she could get out of Curtis. He seemed like he would willingly give her information if it went with courting her.

Curis gave a small his, her eyes widenning as she saw his snake touch dart out into the air, "The closest village is the Lemord Village about a days walk for you."

"Then we should get going. Will you be walking with me or..."She didn't get to say anything more before she was lifted into the air, Kagome help back a yelp as she was positioned in the mans arms.

"I can walk!" Kagome yelped out, not exspecting to be curried with such ease.

"Females are fragile. It would be bad for you to get hurt from such a long walk." Curtis hissed out softly, as he used his tail to pick up Kagome's belongings, "This way we can make it to the village quicker as well."

Kagome bit her lip, but didn't say anything as he sat the snake skin into her lap, but didn't give her her bag back. He kept it in his tail, as he started to slither them into the forest. Kagome took a deep breath, eyes glancing at the snake man holding her.

She had a feeling this world was definitely different that what she was used to.
