The heavy rain was knocking on my window. The rain is how everybody feels in my quarter, it mimics how we feel. Most days here, it's pretty depressing. Everybody's quiet and keeps to themselves. Me on the other hand, I'm not that kind of person, my mum even despises me because of the way I act. I can't help it! How about you stop being so miserable I always say. I'm Skyla and Despair is my home, sweet home. I live on the borders of Anger seeing people in battles every time I look out my window.

Lately, I've been having these strange dreams that come flooding back hours later, it is like amnesia consumes me until I remember. "Hey, Skyla?" I was interrupted by Emma "Are you even listening to me?" She whispered it. Everyone in Despair whispers, like everything's a secret, it annoys me and she knows but she has no confidence to speak up.

"Yeah, uh... yeah"

"Yeah, I wa..."

She was cut off by my thoughts and every dream, nightmare, coming back to me at once.

My mum is lying in my arms, scarlet splattered her blouse and immediately I knew it was blood. She lay limp her head back; her eyes looked glazed staring up at the sky. I felt the heavy weight of tears on my eyelashes and the hot sting burning my cheeks. I shivered and they gathered around me attempting to comfort me but this time I didn't force them away, I sat staring through a blur into their worried gazes, burning through my skin. Why would they care what I feel? They're my enemies.

The dream faded, and I heard one last "See ya later, Sky," from Emma, then she muttered, "even though you're not listening."

That night I fell asleep slowly like walking on the edge of a cliff and staring down into the darkness until it swallowed me. I was worried of what would be in my dreams. Then... I slipped into darkness.

I hear a soft knock on my bedroom window. A caring boy with dreamy blue eyes and ruffled black hair came into view. I automatically walked over and opened the foggy window to see Ricky slouching over. 'Hey Sky' He called me Sky? Only my mum calls me Sky 'I came like you asked' 'Hey Ricky, yeah, here it...

The dream faded into a misty blur before she could see what she was handing over. Ricky? Ricardo. He's from Anger. Wait... How do I know this?

The rain drenched my pillow as I awoke. The window wrenched open as far as it could go. "Mum!" I yelled through the dull hallways. "Mum."

"Quiet down, Skyla," my mum whispered from her room.

"just come here."
