My iPod was blasting Linkin' Park as I walked into school. I pushed my way through the people crowding the hallways and made my way to my locker. This was a private school, and like every private school, the students had to wear uniforms. But unlike most private schools, we have a lot of freedom. We can wear whatever we want, but we have to wear the symbol of the class we are in, like me, I'm a junior, so the symbol of a junior is a serpent sewn on in green thread.

I know it may seem strange, but trust me, it's normal. The symbol of a freshman is a dog (a beagle to be specific) in red thread; the symbol of a sophomore is an eagle in purple thread; and the symbol of a senior is a lion in gold thread.

I got to my locker and groaned. A couple was basically sucking on each others' faces. Love seemed to be a big thing in this school. I was one of the few students who were single. And I was a scholarship student. Everyone seemed to ignore a scholarship student like me.

Plus, I only dated once while I was here.

I shut off my music as I shoved passed the couple and got my books ready for the day. I was about to shut my locker when someone snuck up behind me and pulled me close to them. A hand slid down the side of arm, my black silk blouse feeling cool against my skin, and the other one wrapped around my stomach. I tried to pull away but that only made him hold me tighter.

"What's the rush, Amber?" the voice said into my ear. It was deep and mocking, and he nibbled on my earlobe

Oh. My. God.

"Damn it Justin let me go!" I said angrily. Justin was the star of both the track team and the football team, incredibly tall, being six foot one, and extremely strong. We used to date at the beginning of the school year for maybe two months, give or take. I broke up with him around late October, and he still hasn't gotten over me. It was mid-November now.

I struggled against his grip, and luckily the bell rang, so he had to let me go. He gave me his cocky smile, the one that would make you head flutter and your heart skip two beats. But he didn't get that that smile didn't work on me anymore. I tried to clear my head as I walked to History, succeeding for only this class because we shared the same Algebra 2 class.

History was as boring as usual, but I took my time making it look like I was taking notes, when really I was working on a letter to my brother, Andrew, who was a scientist in studying radioactivity and gamma rays. I forget what it's called, but it's something he loves to do, so I'm happy for him. He also has a wife who's five months pregnant. In March or April I could be an aunt... whoa...

The bell rang. Now to the next torture session. The one I have to share with the over obsessive ex-boyfriend. How joyful.

hey people! I'm sorry it's so short~ lots of stuff goes on and I promise a good story. Especially romance. And drama. And your typical love triangle. Ahh I love writing romance novels. I am quite the Victorian after all! Mm'kay, bai~
