It echoes. His name echoes in the back of my mind, like it's teasing me because I know he's already gone. I call out not understanding why. It's more of a subconscious decision, kind of like a reflex.
While taking in the landscape around me I realize I'm in the forest behind my house. Then out of nowhere I hear it the voice of a young one.

"What are you doing over there Cress?" That's him calling to me. Talking to me. I knew it, I knew he couldn't be gone for good.

His high pitched voice rings out again,"Hey Cress this game isn't very fun if all you do is stand there! You have to come find me!" Picking which way I should go to find him by trying to find where his voice came from. I walk slowly to the right near a large willow tree. Through the wall of green and brown, of the trees surrounding me, a red shirt and jeans jumps in and out of my peripheral vision.

"Hey Spence where are you?" I yelling hoping that he will fall for it and tell me before he realizes what he has done.

"I can't tell you that's not part of the game you have to find me silly." he yells back to me.

"Well then i guess when I find you I might just have to gobble you up!" A small squeal comes from my right near a bush right next to the fence keeping us from entering our house.

"Please don't eat me Cress," he finally gets out in puffs after a fit of uncontrollable laughter.
A feeling of dread starts growing at the bottom of my stomach increasing with ever breathe I take. It makes me want to grab Spence in my arms and run for the house without looking back.
I don't though, instead I turn back and start walking for the bush I know he was behind. Before I take three steps he is out of the bushes and running, running as fast as he can for the thickest part of the forest.

Before running after him I yell to him saying, "Hey Spence, Cress is going to get some water okay?"

A now distant, "Kay," comes from Spence as he runs further away.
As he gets further away the dread pulls at my stomach make me move to where Spence had gone. It pulls me as if I'm on a lead, leading me to Spence.

The pull stops as I get to a large oak tree. A very large oak tree. After looking around quickly to see if I could find anything I finally look up to see Spence standing on a small branch, while looking up as if looking at God.

Panic wells up inside of me and when I yell for Spence to come down it barely comes out as a whisper. So I take a deep breathe and try to hide the panic in my voice before say again, "Hey Spence I found you maybe you should come down now?"

"But I can't come down," he answers me.
The panic grows with every pules as if it is poison being pushed through my blood with every beat of my heart. Which makes it even harder to keep a steady voice hoping not to show the fear I feel inside. Scaring him is the last thing I need. "Why can't you come down?" I ask with a slight waver in my voice.

"I saw someone and she said that if I climbed up as high as I can I'll be able to see her again and then she will never have to leave."

"Who told you this and who would you see buddy?" The panic is starting to show through, I won't be able to control it much longer. All I need to do is control it until he gets down that's it. It's alright just hold yourself together.

"There was an angel Cress, she was lovely. She had a black long dress, it was very pretty and black wings." My breath gets caught in my throat as he describes something that is believe to only exist in fairy tails.

"And the angel said that if I climbed up the tree I would see Mum again, but I have to get really high in the tree or I won't see her," he answers. Everything shatters dread, fear, panic roll in from every side. Mum's gone. His imagination is getting to him. Flippen fallen angles don't just tell you to fall to your death because they aren't real!

"GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW SPENCER!" My voice was too harsh, there was too much pain in my voice, it was to cold.

The sound of a foot sliding and a large intake of breathe is all I here before my world turns darker than a starless night and then changes once again and I'm falling. Moving towards the earth, watching as the grass and dirt becomes more clear. The only background noise being a throaty scream, but it took me a while to realize it wasn't coming from me but from someone else.
The darkness clears and I'm back to where I'm standing as his body hits the earth. Dizziness overtakes my senses as the nauseous feeling takes over. Once I snap out of it I take three bounding steps over to him but I'm met with lifeless, glazed over eyes.
Agonizing screams escape me as I collapse onto my knees. I try crawling over to his body to hold him close to me but I can't seem to move my arms. My eye line drifts down to my wrists. A blackish vine had managed to wrap around my hand without me knowing. Looking around I see vines coming from every angle and soon enough they cover me. I squirm and try and break the hold they have on me but it is now use.

The only thing keeping me from tearing the vines off and running are the red, menacing eyes. They stare at me, it's gaze full of hatred.

A booming voice, that I believe to be coming from the same creature with the eyes, rages from beneath the ground saying, "You do not need to fight this is your fate. You sat there and watched your mother and brother fall to their deaths. Your father hasn't come back for you, now tell me what's your life compared to theirs? They both suffered the same fate. You did nothing to save them." At once the fight to survive fades. Why should I live when its my fault they fell? Simple answer. I shouldn't. The vines pull tighter and tighter until I too am taken from this world.
