Emma Paxton, is a girl that is longing for that perfect life everyone wants to have, but that is kind of difficult to get when you are getting bullied at school and being beaten at home. No one really knows about her big secret that she is getting beaten at home since she doesn't have any friends that she could talk to. Maybe that is why she would rather stay in the library reading books and studying than hanging out with the rest of the students.
This whole thing changes when Emma gets paired up with the school's bad boy, Colton, for an English assignment. They are supposed to get to know each other so that later on they can have a presentation in front of the class about prejudices people have before they get to know a person.
Since Emma is the way she is and isolating herself from everyone, how will this assignment turn out? Will Colton be able to break through her shell and get her to tell him her secrets or will she just ignore him and think of him as the other people that bullies her?
