Monthly Review - A Silent Struggle

Month after month, the cycle repeats.
My journey dictated by prescription sheets.
They call it a “MONTHLY REVIEW.”
A mere check-up, a necessity, just check and go…
But to me it’s a storm, a burden wrapped in medical terminology.

Anxiety packs itself in my bag before I do,
Tension knots itself into my muscles before the journey begins.
To them I simply travel back and forth.
But here I am carrying more than just my body.
The upper hand's silent test, cold replies, battling unseen pressure.

Since 2022 the road’s been long for me,
But they wish to be me? For a moment perhaps,
But only when it fits within their comfortable view.
Never tasting the pills of stress, and they won’t carry the tension I shoulder.
The silent wars I fight under the orders they’ll never hear.

And now February 2025 draws near,
The journey still waiting, and thus will I be walking
Another chapter in this endless sphere,
Caught between orders and silent struggle
For they wish to be me—so they say,

But, please don’t fall for me and my journey,
Can you all even walk half my way?
Don’t fall for what you think I am,
But for the weight you cannot see—
And the one I would never ask you to feel or bear.
