You step out of your car, amazed at the rows of candles lighting up the dark pathway through the park. "Aidan, what is this?" You ask, grinning as he walks over to you. He pulls you into a hug. "Just follow me." He says, smiling mischeivously. He grabs your hand and together Aidan and you walk the candlelit pathway. Aidan and you have been happily dating for two years now. You walk together in silence for a couple of minutes until you stop by a beautifully lit water fountain. "Wow." You breathe. "It's lovely." You say, admiring the stone couple pouring water from a large jar. The water fountain splashing fills the silence. You turn to look at Aidan and find him kneeling. Your eyebrows draw and he picks up your other hand. "Y/N." He states. You smile. "I've known you for two years now. The best two years of my life." He says. "And-I can't believe I'm saying this-I often find myself thanking the criminal who held you at gunpoint at the library two years ago. Because if it wasn't for him, well, I probably never would've gotten the courage to ask you out on a date. It was hard enough asking you if any new sci-fi books arrived at the library." He continues, grinning. You chuckle and shake your head. "Well, what I want to ask you is... is if you'd like to spend the rest of your life with me. I want you to so badly, Y/N. I want you by my side to do life with me... as my wife." Aidan says, smiling up at you hopefully. He takes in a deep breath before continuing. "Would you do me the honor of being my wife?" He asks, pulling a diamond ring out of his pocket. You smile, tears in your eyes. Just as you're about to open your mouth, someone comes barreling into Aidan and you. Aidan falls on his back and you stumble backwards as the man runs off. "Hey, he has your engagement ring!" Aidan yells. Together, Aidan and you chase the man through the park. "Call the police, Y/N!" Your boyfriend exclaims, running
even faster. You continue to chase after the man while dialing 911. The thief continues to run until he trips over a tree stump. He scrambles forward and Aidan lunges for him. He jumps on the man's back and turns him over. Aidan's jaw drops. "You-you're the man who held my girlfriend at gunpoint at that library a couple of years ago!" He exclaims incredously. The thief squints and stares at Aidan. "You're the man who beat me in the face with that hardcover science fiction book!" He exclaims. Aidan glares. "Hand me the ring." He commands. The thief hands it over and Aidan disposits it in his pocket. "How did you get out of jail so soon?" He asks, sitting on the man. "I had bail. Also, I got out quick because of being a good citizen. I stopped a man from hanging himself in his cell so I got they let me out early." The man answers. You walk over to the men. You gasp. "Aidan, he's the-" You state. "I know." Your boyfriend interrupts, shaking his head. "Well, I hate to tell you this but you're about to be put back in jail. And hopefully for a long time." You say to the thief as police sirens wail in the distance. The man huffs. "If I said I'm sorry would you let me go?" He asks wistfully. You laugh and put your hands on your hips. "You wish." You say.~
Two hours later, Aidan and you walk back to your car. "Why do we keep attracing criminals?" You ask, grinning. He chuckles. "Honestly." He says. "Hopefully he'll get no bail this time. He obviously hasn't learned a lesson." He comments. You sigh. "I'm sorry that it ruined such a perfect night." You say stopping at your car. Aidan reaches for your hand. "You know, you never actually gave me an answer." He says. You grin. "I think you already know my answer." You reply. He raises his eyebrows. "Do I, now?" He asks, smiling. You step forward and wrap your arms around him, pulling him in for a passionate kiss.
