After a breakfast filled with uncontrollable laughter, endless teasing, and a little bit of actual eating, the team had scattered to their rooms.
Some lounged alone, while others huddled together, glued to their phone screens, mindlessly scrolling through reels on Instagram.
This very important and sacred ritual of reel-scrolling was suddenly interrupted by a single ting!—a notification.
But not just any notification.
It was a message forwarded by Tilak in their common WhatsApp group chat, 'Cricket and Benstockes'.
Oh, wait.
Not that one.
It was actually in another, far more elite and group chat named 'Wedding Food' —a name 'bhai bahut mast hai', proudly and chaotically assigned by none other than Hardik, the self-proclaimed GOAT.
The purpose of this group?
Well, the basics were simple: a space dedicated to discussing the two most naive monkeys in the team—Shubman and Ishan.
It had originally been created as a joke, following the overwhelming cricket fraternity's demand for wedding food ideas... specifically, for their wedding.
Yes, the team had, with full enthusiasm, already planned an entire imaginary wedding for Shubman and Ishan, complete with venue suggestions, a menu debate, and of course, an extensive discussion on the types of sweets they would serve.
And now, whatever Tilak had just sent was bound to add even more fuel to the fire.
Abhishek unlocked his phone and opened the 'Wedding Food' WhatsApp group, only to find that Tilak had shared a link from Instagram.
Interesting, right?
Well, so interesting that he immediately pushed Mayank away—right when the latter was about to kiss him—and let out a dramatic squeal, much like an overexcited teenager.
"Ahh, ab kya hua?! Why are you like this?" Mayank groaned, rubbing his chest where Abhishek had shoved him.
"Broh!" Abhishek practically vibrated in excitement.
"Tilak himself shared an Instagram video!" His eyes were glowing with so much enthusiasm that it felt like he had just discovered a hidden treasure.
Mayank blinked, unimpressed.
"Toh? What's so special about that? It's probably just another humourless reel." He pouted, clearly annoyed that a mere notification had interrupted his romantic moment.
"Arehh, if it was a normal reel, he would have just shared it on Instagram. But no—he shared it on WhatsApp, in our group chat. And not just any GC, but Wedding Food!" Abhishek clutched Mayank's arm in excitement before biting it, a habit that he always did when overly thrilled.
Mayank, however, barely reacted.
He was more than used to it by now.
Instead, he just sighed, pulled Abhishek into his arms, and ruffled his already messy hair.
"You're too much." He muttered fondly.
At that, Abhishek finally let go of his arm, his entire face lighting up like a fresh ray of sunshine.
His wide, beaming smile was so pure and adorable that it instantly melted Mayank into a hopeless puddle.
With his heart turning into mush, Mayank couldn't help but lean in and place a soft peck on Abhishek's lips.
