The Struggle

It's time. My enemy is almost here.

Ready to strike. Waiting for the right moment to execute its malicious plan. A plan that would ruin me.

Scrolling through important information on my phone. Something that can't be disrupted. The most crucial  step in the process.

But my enemy doesn't have a care in the world. It takes over and destroys. Not only does my enemy affect me, but people all across the globe suffer. They go under the pain and frustration that comes along with my enemy once he strikes.

I dread my enemy everyday. Waiting and watchful, I'm careful to take heed of all the signs and premonitions that tell me my enemy is near. Yet today it slips mind. I am not alert. Too busy with work, not able to pay attention to anything else around me. Then the warning comes.

Frantically, I look around for the antidote that prevents any harm that my enemy will do. But it is out of my reach. Sitting in my bedroom upstairs, waiting to fight the evil that hangs in the air.

'Low Battery'

Knowing that I only have a few seconds to spare before my enemy attacks all-out, I clutch my phone and run. Jump over the couch. Dodge the bookshelf. Turn the corner. Past many doors through the hall. Leap onto my bed.

I triumphantly grab the wire. Plugging it into the socket, my phone lights up.

'Charging'

I wipe the sweat off my brow. Smiling, I get back to my work. I had defeated my enemy. Preventing any serious damage that could have been done.

Suddenly my arm moves and jerks the wire out. NOOOO! I rapidly try to plug it back in. But I am too late. My screen goes black. Dead. Lifeless. Eradicating all the work I didn't have the time to save.

Well, this time my enemy has prevailed. My phone has lost all charge. But next time, I am sure I will defeat my greatest enemy - my phone losing charge.
