I've got some exciting things planned. So without further ado here is First Steps: A Sequel to One Step Closer.
HEATHER'S POV
It's been one week since Lydia's first birthday, and it's been one week since I announced my second pregnancy. My first OB/GYN appointment is today. I woke up to the sound of Jack's voice.
"Hey little one. It's your daddy here." He was talking to the baby again. "We're going to see you for the first time today. You're probably about the size of peanut right now but we can't wait to meet you. I love you."
He softly kissed swell of my stomach before pulling my shirt back down. He looked up and noticed that my eyes were open.
"I hope you know that this is going to be an everyday thing." He said smiling.
"I know," I said running my fingers through his hair. "I love it. It's a great feeling to wake up to you talking to the baby."
He leaned up to kiss me, but as if on cue Lydia's cries came through the monitor. I sat up to go get her, but Jack stopped me.
"I'll get her. You stay here."
I smiled as he made his way out of the bedroom and into the hallway. Suddenly, a wave of nausea rushed over me. I jumped up and ran to our connecting bathroom. The burning sensation ran through my throat as I emptied my contents into the toilet. Which, luckily, wasn't much.
I heard Jack come into the bedroom having a one-sided conversation with Lydia. He must've notice I wasn't there, because I heard him shuffle a few things around to somehow situate Lydia on the bed. He ran into the bathroom and kneeled beside me, rubbing my back soothingly.
Once I had finished, I leaned back and wiped my mouth. Jack wiped the tears that had run down my face. I reached out and he helped me stand up to where I could reach the sink. I rinsed my mouth to get the pungent taste that was left inside.
"Are you okay?" Jack asked once I was finished.
I nodded. "Yeah, I just wasn't expecting that."
"Me neither."
He led me out of the bathroom into our room, where Lydia was situated in between two pillows.
"Mama." She called out once she saw me.
I sat next to her on the bed and pulled her into my arms.
"Hi Baby Girl, did you sleep well?"
"Yeah." She answered.
"Good." I placed a kiss on her head before leaning back against the pillows.
Jack took his hand and smoothed it over my hair.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Jack I'm fine. It's just morning sickness. I had it with Lydia. I'll get over it soon enough."
"I know, I've just never seen you quite like that. It just worried me."
I leaned up and placed a kiss on his lips.
"We're fine, all three of us." I said.
He nodded. "Why don't I take her and get her ready, while you get dressed."
"Okay."
I handed Lydia off to Jack while I sat up to get myself ready.
