Day 4
"I'm driving!"
Before Toby even had chance to respond the keys to his car were plucked from his hands and Imara was already hauling herself up into the drivers seat.
"I guess you are," Toby muttered sarcastically, rolling his eyes and walking around to the passenger door. Climbing in he looked to Imara who was messing about with the drivers seat, moving it forwards then backwards again.
"You do have a license, don't you?" Toby asked Imara looking at her uncertainly. It wasn't that he didn't trust her it was just, it was his car and if anything were to happen to it he'd be devastated.
"Yes, I do," she replied rolling her eyes. They hadn't known each other long but their ability to fall into easy conversation was something she loved about them, they were able to be so comfortable around each other even though they were basically strangers. They both liked to imagine the other as a friend though and neither of them would be lying if they said they'd imagined each other than more than friends. It wasn't a impossible thing to imagine either, they both saw the connectivity, electricity, between them, it was an undeniable part of their relationship, something that was always burning in the oxygen between them, flames that reached out to burn them but only left them wanting more. Left them wanting to get burnt.
"Where are we going then?" Toby asked Imara, watching her start the car.
"It's a surprise," she said in a whisper, looking at Toby with a comedic face, eyes wide, mouth open. Toby just huffed in response, giving Imara his best puppy dog face. She laughed in response, enjoying giving the boy a taste of his own medicine.
"I won't tell you where we're going but I will tell you that because you took me to a special place you shared with your sister yesterday, I'm going to take you to a special place I shared with my mom, it's a secret place, nowhere near as far away as your special place but I've never shown anyone before, not even my dad knows of this place." Imara let it out in all one breath and Toby only smiled in response. He felt special, he felt closer to her than ever in that moment, physically they weren't as close as they could get but emotionally they were almost there, this was basically Imara sharing a secret with him, not a petty kindergarten secret but a proper secret. One that she had only shared with one person, the fact that no other living person on the planet had seen this place ... well that's what made him feel special.
"Okay," he replied, "take me for a ride." He smirked at her, looking through the corner of his eyes from where his head was rested against the head rest. Imara slapped his shoulder for the innuendo he'd so obviously thrown out into the open.
"You won't be getting any of that for a long time," she laughed. Toby shot up at her words.
"Are you implying that it will happen? You didn't say no," Toby spoke sneakily, smiling a seductive smile her way.
"Take that however you want," she smirked back.
"I like to stay positive," he replied, settling back into his seat.
Imara sighed, now they had introduced sexual tension into their relationship after having that conversation - just what she needed. Toby looked content though, he was content. She wasn't running away from the idea of them being more than friends, he knew there was now a possibility of a them and he wouldn't be able to stop wondering about it until it happened.
"Okay," Imara dragged out, starting Toby's car and pulling out of her driveway. The place where she was taking him was only a short drive away but it was probably her favourite place, she'd been going there ever since she was little.
