Friends?
I don’t have them. I don’t want to have any. I don’t NEED one. Because I can live on my own. I’ll be able to breathe with or without them. Why would I waste my time mingling with other people when I can just sit in a corner and read whatever book I brought with me?
I’ve seen lots of people who have friends and they never fail to amaze me. Why? Because they quarrel with each other. Take for example, the other friend was actually feeling insecure towards the other. I mean, wth? If that’s the way that person feels, why would she go so far as to befriend that person?
Now that’s what I call a fake relationship. It doesn’t mean that because you guys are friends, there are no secrets between you and that your friend is being true to you. Just because she’s so funny and bubbly when you’re talking doesn’t mean she couldn’t dare to backstab you.
This is precisely why I don’t want long-term relationships with people…why I simply don’t want friends. It doesn’t matter if I’d eat alone during lunch or walk home alone during dismissal…at least I won’t be troubled by such things.
And here I thought I’d be able to continue my life just like that. That I’d be able to remain not bothered by those things.
One afternoon, as I was arranging my things and getting ready to get the heck out of the classroom, this...overly friendly gal came up to me.
“Hey! You goin’ home, already?”
I decided to ignore her and continued whatever I was doing.
“My name’s Mikaela! What about you?”
I gave her no answer.
She sighed. I thought she had given up but when I raised my head as I slung my bag on my shoulder, I backed off because her face was so close, “What the---!”
She grinned, “Hehe~ You didn’t hear me so I thought I should get closer.”
I rolled my eyes at her and stood up, “Excuse me.”
She didn’t budge, “Aww, c’mon! Tell me your name! I’m Mika---“
“You don’t need to repeat things twice.”
She smiled, “What about you? What’s your name?”
I hesitated to give mine. She’s already this annoying when she’s just asking for my name. If I tell her, who knows what else she’d demand from me? So there’s no way I’m telling her.
“Excuse me.” This time, I shoved her away and successfully stepped away from her reach. She was about to grab me by the arm when a friend of hers called her from across the classroom.
“Aw, gee!” she pouted then turned to me, “Bye! Take care on your way home!”
Again, I rolled my eyes, “I’m not a kid.”
As I turned to the door, I heard her chuckle and what her friend said, “You actually talked to that girl?”
“Why? What’s wrong with talking to her?”
“You know, she’s uh…let’s say ice cold. She’s not very friendly.”
I didn’t hear the rest of the conversation ‘cause I was already by the hallway. It’s not like I care. I’m used to those kinds of talk since I never once tried to entertain those who tried to talk to me and neither am I going to entertain Mikaela.
