No Win, no!" Beth squeaked happily while the older blonde lifted her in the air and brought her to a bone crushing hug.
"Why no?" Quinn asked while nuzzling the little's kid and making her squeak happily in a fit of laugher.
"I'm not sleepy!"
"But you have to go to bed." Quinn retorted tenderly to the little girl who pouted and crossed her little arms over her chest in protest. "I make you a deal. You can stay awake if you, little one, convince your sister to sing me a song." Suddenly, Beth jumped off Quinn's arms and ran excitedly to the other room screaming:
"Ray-Ray!" Quinn chuckled when she heard her friend whine annoyingly in the other room.
"Uhg, Beth what now?" Rachel complained raising her head from the cushion it had been resting for the last ten minutes.
Three weeks had passed since the day Quinn and Rachel had had their first fight, and since then the two girls' friendship had only become stronger.
The first two weeks everything had been... perfect. At least from Quinn's point of view. The apartment felt like a home and she felt like if her roommates had become the family she had always dreamed to have. She specially enjoy the time she got to enjoy with Beth and Rachel. Shelby had allowed her to babysit Beth with Rachel, and that little time she was able to spend with the two women she loved the most in the world meant everything to her and made her incredibly happy. It had been perfect... or at least for Quinn.
The last couples of days something felt different. Quinn couldn't help but notice that Rachel seemed distant and sad. Was it her fault? She didn't know, but Rachel obvious distress bothered her immensely. Rachel's happiness meant the word to the blonde and not being capable to make Rachel smile like she did before was eating Quinn alive.
Quinn had her theories about Rachel's behavior, but lately every time she tried to start a conversation with the little diva, Rachel simply dismissed her concern and pretended like nothing was happening. But Quinn knew better.
"You sing me a song Ray-Ray!" Beth cheered happily nudging Rachel with her little hands to get up.
"Common Ray-Bear you have to sing a lullaby to Be-be here or she won't go to sleep." Quinn prompted with a smile, enjoying using a pet name so nauseatingly sweet to address Rachel. One of the reasons she knew Rachel was depressed was because she hadn't heard her sing not even once in almost a week. Quinn knew that singing was Rachel's biggest joy, so she prompted the diva to sing every time she could.
"Not now Beth, I have a headache." Rachel answered almost immediately making the little girl pout and throw a tantrum in defiance. Quinn's brow furrowed in concern. If Rachel denied her little adoptive sister, then nothing will make Rachel sang ever again.
"Pretty please Ray-Ray!" Beth begged with her best puppy eyes.
"Sorry." Rachel said with a sigh glancing away from the girl. When Quinn noticed that Beth was about to burst crying, she picked up the little girl and cradled her within her arms.
"Ray-Bear is not feeling well Be-Be, let's let her rest." Quinn said with a soft smile to the kid.
"But I want a song!" Beth demanded with the biggest pout of the night. Quinn wasn't about to deny her anything.
"What about if I sing to you instead, and then you can go to bed."
"That was not the deal!"
"I know." Quinn laughed softly looking at the little girls' eyes with proud and love."But Ray-Bear is not feeling well. Let me put you into bed, so I can take care of your big sister, ok?" The little girl seemed to think the older blonde's words and then looked at her with apprehension.
