Tomlin's POV:
"Please hurry up! I really don't want to be late to my first Algebra II class!" I rush Liam at his locker. The second bell had just rung and that meant I had 2 minutes to get to my next class.

I swear to god if I'm late...

"Done" he says, closing his locker abruptly, which made me jump. He chuckles at my sudden movement and quickly apologizes. "Sorry."

I shake my head and start walking down the hall, Liam by my side. "I'm really proud of you, you know" he says smiling at me.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.  "Why?" I ask, tilting my head.

"Because! Sophomores don't usually get into Algebra II! Your going to be with all juniors!" He says. He puts a hand on my shoulder and shakes it lightly, giving me a "duh" sign.

I grin and look down at my feet. I don't like this much attention even if it's coming from my best friend. I'm just so insecure about everything I do, and Liam knows this.

"Hey" he says, getting my attention. "When you walk in, you technically are going to be the smartest person in there because none of them are sophomores and in Algebra II."

I digest what he says and smile. He's 100% right. I just need to have confidence in myself. Liam always could make me feel better. I guess that's one of the reasons why he's my best friend. "Thank you Liam. I don't know what I would do without you" I smile at him and watch him head off down the hall before turning to the door of my classroom.

I push aside one of my curls of blond hair and readjust the pile of books in my arms.

Being so eager to get here on time, I'm surprisingly not in a rush at all to actually step in the classroom. However, I don't have much of a choice sense the bell signaling the start of class rung.

"Shit" I mutter under my breath and lunge for the door handle. Opening the door quickly, I step inside. Everyone is kind of just standing around still so I don't think my tardiness was noticed.

A sigh of relief takes over me as I go to stand next to a desk in the middle of the room.

"Alright students, take your seats" Mrs.Taylor (algebra II teacher) said, taking a seat of her own.

She had carried on with the whole "so glad I get to teach you this year", speech but I wasn't really paying attention. Something had caught my eye...

A blond boy was sitting two seats in front of me to the left. At least, it looked like his original color was blond, but it was now a light purple. I don't want to judge a book by its cover but...he looked like a complete madman. He looked taller than me, but not too tall. It was hard to tell since he was sitting down. He had so many piercings on his face, I could almost feel the pain he must of experienced getting all of those. He had tattoos up and down his arms. I wonder what his parents thought of him...

I lean over a little to whisper to the girl next to me, Bella. I know her because she used to be my older brother's girlfriend. We became pretty good friends during that time.

"Hey Bella, who is that boy?" I say pointing over to the purple haired male.

She turns to me and a surprised smile appears on her face. She's so beautiful when she smiles, she should do it more often.

"Tomlin! I didn't know you were in this class! Wait, you're sophomore, right? What are you doing here?" She asks, raising her eyebrow.

"Yes, I'm a sophomore, but I got moved up in math" I explain to her, blushing. Again, I don't like this much attention.

"That's so cool! We are gonna have the best time together!" She squeals.

I laugh lightly and she smiles.

"So how is Harry? I heard he's dating Mariah."

"Yeah he is" I lean a little closer and whisper, "but she's so annoying it's not even funny. All she does is make Harry take her to expensive dinners and shit. Harry doesn't really like her that much either, anymore" I laugh lightly.

Bella giggles and shakes her head.

"That's hilarious" she smirks.

I bring up the boy again. Bella's laugh disappears.

"You don't recognize him?" Bella looks at me seriously. I shake my head stating that I didn't. Put

"No, who is he?"

"That's Niall Horan."

My smile disappears. Leaning back into my chair, I put a hand through my hair. That's really Niall Horan? It can't be.

But it is.

Last time I saw Niall Horan was way back in 6th grade. Harry and Niall used to best friends...

~~FLASHBACK~~

"Mum.." I whisper, my voice breaking. "Mum!"

"What is it dear?" She calls, the sound of her heals against the wood floors coming closer.

I could hear the door to outside opening, but I didn't look back.

I didn't look back even when I heard her shriek and I heard her drop a vase of flowers she had gotten at the market that day.

No, I didn't look back. I kept my eyes on my bleeding brother.

Tears stung my eyes as I looked at him unconscious on the pavement of our driveway. His nose and lip wear bleeding loads. His eye was swelling and turning an awful shade of purple. I put my hand on his head and could feel a very large lump forming. He had scratches all over his body.

I couldn't imagine what kind of person would hurt him like that. Until I turned my head to the left and saw another unconscious body, Niall Horan. He looked to be in the same condition as Harry.

The sirens were loud and the pain I felt in my chest was unbearable. My vision was blurred because of my tears, my lip was quivering.

Harry had been taken from us by the paramedics. They told us that we would be alright, but I didn't believe them.

From there on out, the kid who had come to the Style Household practically everyday, was never seen again.

~~END OF FLASHBACK~~

I had never known what the fight was about, but I didn't need to know. He hurt my brother and that's all I needed.
