Katelyn Marie had met Nick seven years ago, way before the apocalypse had even begun.
They had been friends for a long time, although she didn't wanna admit it, that smart ass con man had found a way past her barriers and broke her walls down slowly but surely.
They met up with the others a few days after all hell broke loose.
Zoey, the young college student with a love of video games, Ellis, the young hick with a kind heart and Coach, the guy with a love of cheeseburgers but all together a great guy.
They all sat in the safe house, resting up for the next day.
Everyone was doing their own thing, Zoey and Ellis was off in the corner, talking and laughing, Coach was asleep on the floor and Katelyn and Nick were sitting against the wall together.
Katelyn had recently been attacked by a hunter, after Nick had patched up her wounds, she didn't say a word.
Nick nudged her arm playfully, as she turned to him he gave her a warming smile, she smiled back as he whispered.
"Are you feeling okay?"
Katelyn nodded and sighed as she rubbed the back of her head.
"I'm fine Nicky."
He smiled and looked away, Katelyn was the only person he ever let call him that, that was how close they were.
"You are such a clutz, sweetheart."
She punched his arm playfully.
"If I wasn't such a clutz, who would you have to take care of?"
He chuckled and ruffled her hair.
"Well, things would certainly be boring without you around Kate, that's for sure."
She smiled and looked away from him, a small blush forming on her cheeks.
Ellis and Zoey walked up to them.
"Ey guys, Zoey an' myself are gonna go search for some supplies, we will be back here shortly."
Nick and Katelyn nodded.
"Okay Ellis, you two be careful and take extra ammo and one of the walkies just in case you two get in a predicament."
Ellis and Zoey smiled.
"You got it chief!"
Nick shook his head and chuckled.
Ellis and Zoey locked hands together and walked out the door, closing the door behind them.
Katelyn smiled.
"I see Ellis and Zoey seemed to have hit it off, they are such a cute couple!"
Nick leaned back against the wall and sighed.
"I guess they have, haven't they?"
Nick stood up and stretched as he looked out the door, little did Katelyn know that Nick wanted a relationship with her the same Ellis had with Zoey.
It was already night time in Savannah and the sounds of crickets echoed through the night sky and for a few seconds everything seemed normal.
Nick looked at Katelyn as she stared down at the floor and yawned.
As he looked at her features, her beautiful smile, her long black hair and those beautiful blue-green eyes, little did she know, Nick loved her.
