Foreword
(None of these characters belong to me, they belong fully to Cassandra Clare, as does the simple plot line.)
This is my take on Cassandra Clare's 'The Mortal Instruments' series. This book (of course) takes place after the 'Infernal Devices' trilogy, also by Cassandra Clare. Since the third book in the trilogy has not yet been released, this is how it played out in my mind:
Tessa and Jem were to be married. Morrison has been defeated, though Tessa is still unsure of what she is. At the end of the book, on Jem and Tessa's wedding night, Jem becomes very sick, sicker than normal, and he is out if his precious drug. Tessa sits by his bed, and watches him die. Magnus then appears, and ushers Tessa out of the room, though Will remains.
Tessa, so distraught-ridden, leaves London. Charlotte is about to give birth to her son, and then she will become preoccupied. Will will no doubt avoid her, for now that Jem had died, he surely cannot have Tessa, for it would be as if he wanted Jem to die. Tessa leaves the Institute, finding no more life for her there. She boards a ship back to America, and makes a life for herself.
The year is now 2014, and Tessa finds herself drawn into the battles of young Shadowhunters of the New York Institute. Brought into the battle by Magnus, Tessa discovers a secret that changes her past, and her future.

The Shadowhunters of the New York Institute continuously find their hands full. For Jonathan Morgernstern plans to burn down the world, using Clary Fray, his younger sister, to fuel his fire. Jace, Clary's love, now contains the Fire of Heaven. Alec Lightwood finds himself distraught over the loss of Magnus Bane, who was once his boyfriend. And Isabelle finds herself in love with Simon, except there is only one problem.
Simon is immortal. Izzy is not.
However, the group discover a secret that changes the past, and a person that may help them take down Jonathan.
