~JULY 1994~

Dear Mellie,
...missed you so much at the end of the year party. It was weird not having you there to back me up during the water balloon fight. It's been so long since I saw you, when are you coming back? I'm trying to convince my parents to let me come to London, but they're being stubborn...

Dear Daph,
...this summer has been oddly busy for me. I've spent a few days with Jess and Olivia exploring the city, but it's not the same without you...

Dear Mel,
...Mum has been going on and on about you and Harry and Hermione coming before the cup. I don't think she's left the kitchen all week. Can't wait to see you in a few days...

It's been six weeks since the semester ended and I already can't wait to get back to the castle. Yes, it's nice to be home with my parents and spend some time getting to know my new neighborhood, but I miss having all my friends together. We had all been constantly sending letters, but it's not the same. The first few weeks Olivia and Jess were both gone on family holidays so it gave me time to get my summer homework done.
"You finished already? Am I really that boring?" Mom asked over the radio as she made us sandwiches, motioning with the knife to have me take the lemonade to the patio table.
"Oh, come on." I chuckled. "You know what I mean. I was with them for nine straight months. Excuse me if I miss them."
"No, I get it. They are great people, even I miss them." Just as we sat to eat a small, wiry owl swooped down and tumbled to a stop on the grass. It stood and shook off the loose blades before floating over to the empty chair beside me.
"Hello, Pig." I stroked the side of his head a few times before grabbing the letter out of his beak. "It's from Molly!"

Melanie dear,
How are you? I meant to send my own letter sooner, but Fred insisted that he would include any messages from me. Knowing him he didn't, but anyhow, I hope you and your parents are enjoying the summer holiday so far. Are you settling into the city fine? Ginny mentioned something about you spending time with Jessica and Olivia, both such nice girls, they really are good friends to keep close by your side. As much as I want to hear about your time off, I'm really writing to finalize the details for the World Cup.
Arthur has confirmed that you will be using a portkey not far from our home to reach the campground outside the stadium. He said you all will have to leave early on the morning of the 20th, so I was thinking that you and your parents could get to the Burrow a day or so before then. No sense in feeling rushed the morning of, we've got plenty of room. I know that you and your father have tickets, but I figured this might be a nice time for me and your mum to get to know each other for a couple of days. Up to her, though, don't want to intrude on any existing plans.
I also wanted to invite you to stay with us after the World Cup. It will only be a few weeks before you are all heading back to Hogwarts for another term. I've got a day planned for us to visit Diagon Alley to do any shopping for the term. Talk it over with your parents and let me know. Can't wait to see you all soon!

Molly

"That was nice of her to invite me along as well." Mom cooed as she sipped her lemonade.
"Fred and Ginny told me all about their house, magic everywhere since they live in the country. I think you and Molly would have a nice time without us yahoos around causing trouble."
"We'll have to discuss it all with your father when he gets home." The rest of the afternoon zipped by and soon Dad was plopping into the fireplace as I read in the large, purple armchair next to it.
"Hello, girls. Have a good day?" He asked as he dusted himself off.
"Finished the last of my summer homework, Mom and I had lunch on the patio, and we got a letter from Molly."
"Yes, Arthur mentioned something about needing to finalize the details for our trip. Where is your mother?"
"I think she went to the bathroom? She said dinner would be ready soon." He nodded as he sat on the matching sofa and began reading from today's copy of The Daily Prophet.
