Today was the day Camila and Lauren were going to tell people that they were in love. It's not like they had to worry about losing any fans. Camren had become another synonym for love in the Harmonizer dictionary.
Lauren and Camila saw the Vine edits, the Instagram pages, the tumblr blogs; they knew about it all. They had even discovered the common saying in the fandom: "and if Camren isn't real, then we've created the most beautiful love story."
But the question was: how were they going to confirm it once and for all? Camila had suggested that subtlety was the way to go, but Lauren wanted the entire world to hear her when she announced that Camila was hers. She wanted to shout it from rooftops and have it plastered on every magazine.
Lauren had already told Camila she would take care of it, but she was stumped. And Normani's humming wasn't helping.
"Normani, can you shut up?" Lauren asked in a harsh tone she would probably apologize later for.
"Damn, did Camila forget to give you a kiss this morning?" Normani teased.
"No, asshole, we're going to tell them," Lauren said in a quiet voice.
The other girl knew exactly what she was talking about. "Wait, tonight?" Normani asked.
"Well, yeah. Were you planning on coming out today too?"
Normani rolled her eyes. "The world already knows I love Beyoncé."
"Maybe Queen Bey will show up in the midst of your confession and she'll make you Blue Ivy's babysitter," Lauren teased.
After remembering (and regretting) the time she told her friends that she had a dream where her career was to be the caretaker of Blue Ivy, Normani gave Lauren a lighthearted glare.
"Fuck you," was all Normani said before chunking a pillow at the younger girl.
"You love me," Lauren said in mock seriousness. Her "seriousness" lasted for about five seconds until she bursted out into laughter.
"Lauren, what the hell is wrong with you?"
"I had three cups of coffee," Lauren admitted.
"Are you really that nervous?" Normani asked in a concerned tone.
"No, I'm totally chill about telling everybody about a relationship that I used to want hidden forever." Lauren sighed.
"You can't use sarcasm to get out of this," Normani told her.
"It won't hurt to try." Lauren laughed.
"It won't hurt because you're already dead." When Lauren looked at her in confusion, Normani kept talking. "You're practically killing yourself by trying too hard. I know you, you just have to dig a little deeper."
"Thanks, Dr. Phil. But I still don't have any ideas."
"Serenade her."
"It's 2017," Lauren deadpanned.
"C'mon, Laur, Camila loves the cute little stuff," Normani said persuasively.
"But Mani, I want her, and everybody else, to realize how in love with her I am." Camila's insecurity around Lauren was still there, even after almost three years of dating.
"So take a song and make it about Camila," Normani offered.
"Any suggestions?"
"I don't know, go on YouTube and find something that could describe Camila. It'd be cute if it had New York in it, too. We're performing in the Big Apple anyway, and imagine how much she'd appreciate your effort." Normani shrugged.
