I leant my head against the window, watching the rain trickle down outside the car. I would never see my "mum" again- and obviously Jay was out of my life too. I hated the feel of the leather seats that I was sitting on, and the cold, unresponsive chauffeur. I had no idea where I was going and really didn't want to go there.  Mum had told me nothing apart from the fact that I wasn't human, which obviously gives me a lot to think about. My hair was still red, my eyes were amber and my skin was ice white. When I looked in the mirror, I didn't know who I was anymore. I sighed, frustrated with everything that was happening and let the gentle motion of the car rock me to sleep.

I started awake as the car rolled to a stop. I couldn't tell how long I had been asleep. We had pulled up in front of a small cottage, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. I assumed that we were having a quick break- I mean, why bother taking me to a cottage? - when the door of the car was opened by the driver.  "We have arrived." He said with a voice that sounded like the colour grey. I raised an eyebrow as I got out of the car and immediately got drenched with rain. I didn't care where we were, I just wanted to get in. Annoyingly, the door wouldn't open. The driver guy shoved me aside and pressed his finger onto a pad next to the door. It slid open and I gaped in amazement.

The cottage was in front of a massive castle- like building (which I hadn't noticed first because of the rain) and the door extended through to a wide open courtyard, with a few people walking around. A guy who looked about twenty strode towards us and shook the driver's hand.

"Thanks, Brent; I'll take it from here."

The chauffeur dude gave a small bow and walked off.

The man extended his hand to me. "You must be Victoria. I'm Mr. Daniels, the headmaster here."

I gaped in surprise. Headmaster? He looks only a few years older than me. As I shake his hand, I notice that his eyes are forget-me-not blue. He gestures to one of the arches in the walls of the courtyard. "If you'll step this way, I will show you your room and you can find out what's going on."

I follow gratefully. Maybe he'll have answers to my, like, 3 trillion questions.
