Stay

"God! Why do you have to be like this Derek? I just don't understand." Stiles stood at the opposite side of Derek's loft and gave him a pleading look with his eyes.

"You know no one wants me here Stiles. It's for the best. No one else... no one else needs to get hurt because of me."

Stiles knows that Derek is talking about Boyd and Erica. But that wasn't really his fault.

"You know no one blames you for that Derek!"

"What about Isaac? That was his pack as much as it was mine." Derek's eyes shown a bright blue in the dark loft.

"Isaac idols you Derek. You saved him from his father and he couldn't be more thankful for that. He wants you here as much as I do Derek. We all do."

"How about Scott and Allison? Huh, Stiles? How about Allison telling me that I was better off dead? How would you explain that one?!"

Stiles just sighed and put his head in his hands. "Derek," he whispered.

"Tell me," he replied with a demand.

"You don't understand how much you've done for this pack. You helped Scott when Peter turned him. You saved Allison from here crazy aunt. You've saved us all Derek. You just don't understand. We all want you here. Even Allison and Isaac."

"Not good enough! I'm leaving for New York tomorrow Stiles and there is nothing you can do about it!" Derek turned around and stuffed more items into an already filled suitcase.

"What about me?" Stiles whispered under his breath with tears in his eyes.

Derek turned around suddenly, his eyes back to their dull color again. "What did you say?"

Stiles just shook his head no. It was useless, he had already lost Derek.

"Tell me," Derek insisted.

"What about me, Derek?" Stiles asked simply.

"What about you?" Derek asked, confused.

Stiles rolled his eyes like it should have been simple. "Have you ever thought of me? Maybe I want you to stay the most, Derek...."

Derek just frowned. "Really?" he breathed out.

Stiles just nodded. "I remembered you. The first time I saw you. I remembered you from before the fire. I used to see you at school. You were way ahead of me but I still, you know. Anyway, when I saw you again I just knew that it was now or never. You were back and I had to make my move before you were gone. But then there was Jennifer and we all know how that turned out. After that you closed yourself off to everyone. You're not the easiest guy to talk to, Derek."

Derek's eyes just widened, he looked puzzled. "What are you saying, Stiles?"

Stiles just sighed. "I'm saying that I love you Derek. And I know that may be hard for you to believe and in no means do you have to say it back. I just wanted you to know. And the pack, they need you Derek. We all need you here with us."

Derek slowly put down the few shirts he had in his hands and sank down to the floor, looking astonished at all of what Stiles had said. "You mean it?" he whispered distrustingly.

Stiles smiled sadly at him and sat down beside the lost man. He bumped his shoulder with Derek's and said, "I do."

Derek just laid his head down on Stiles' shoulder. "I can't say it back," he whispered. "Not yet."

"I know." Stiles wrapped an arm around Derek's shoulders and just held him closer. "We'll figure it out. I promise. But in the meantime you need to stay here Derek. And if not for me then for the pack. They really do need you."

Derek thought about it for a moment before nodding his head into Stiles' shoulder.

Stiles cautiously kissed his lips to the top of Derek's head. "Let's get you upstairs for a while. We can talk more later. About us, about everything."

"Ok," was the only faint sound that Derek made back. He was staying and it was decided.

Stiles could only smile.
