She lay there, the olive blooded troll, lying in her own green puddle of life, feeling it drain her. The girl knew one of her horns had been broken off, an arm and wrist broken, and many other bones fractured or snapped. Gamzee had been very dedicated to making sure she died slowly. So she lay there, opening an eye to look at her fallen friend, her dead moirail. He had sat there, let himself be killed, while she watched the horror from the vent. If her heart could break more it would've done so at her next thought. One of her greatest fears when it came to shipping; dying with unrequited red feelings for another troll. And now she was becoming her own worse nightmare. She did what she could. "K-Karkat... Kar... I-I love... M-M-You..." She choked out, like he was there. But her flush crush was not there, no one was now that the clown had run off. Only the corpse of the blue blood. "Equius... E-Equius... Pale... Fur you..." She added. The cat girl was trying to tie up loose ends in her final moments. How pathetic. She thought at herself, feelings tears join the mess on the ground. This was it, her death, her final goodbye. Olive green filled her lungs and soon her heart stopped. It was over.
No, it wasn't. Nepeta woke up then, looking around. It was her cave. Her cave. She looked around, but saw no Pounce there. She felt saddened by that. Then she realized everything. Her death. What was this then? The afterlife? Dream bubbles... The phrase came to her, and she understood. She was dead, and now she got to relive memories, and not just her own. A smile came to her face. She might see Karkat! Quickly she darted out of the cave, gasping as something else filled her vision. It was her cave, but she wasn't alone this time. There she sat, but with a Karkat decked out it dark, dark red clothing with a hood and cape. And there she was, in an adorable plum and green outfit with a small hood and an eye mask. What surprised her most was they were sitting together, cuddling almost, talking and whispering.
"Kar... Kat? Me?" Our Nepeta whispered. Quickly the couples attention turned to the new arrival.
"Oh, um, hello, me." AU Nepeta replied.
"What's... Are we, you two, canon?" She asked, her heart fluttering.
"WELL, YEAH. YOU'RE NOT CANON WITH YOUR KARKAT?"
"Well, no... I nefur told my Karkat... Anything..." A sigh.
"Well, what happened? How did you die?" AU Nepeta asked.
"Gamzee, he... He lost it and... He killed Equius and... And.... *hic*" The tears started falling and our Nep sunk to her knees. The couple quickly came over and hugged the sobbing girl, patting her head between her horns to comfort her.
"It's ok. It'll be ok." AU Nep said. After awhile of comforting and talking, our Nepeta decided to leave the happy couple. She drifted for awhile, thinking, before ending up meeting another successful KatNep couple. And another. And another. And another, one after the other. Was she the only Nepeta who didn't quite make it long enough to get Karkat to care? After sometime she drifted back to her own dream bubble, the one where she first showed up at. Instantly she looked at her OTP, her and Karkat.
"Karkitty," She whispered, placing a hand on the drawing. "I'm red fur you. I love you. I love you. Why didn't I ever... *sniffle* tell you? So many other Nepetas did. Why didn't I? WHY DIDNT I?!" She cried and sobbed, curling up under the picture. She was the only one who never ended up happy. And it was all her fault.
(Just a quick short thing I had inspiration for. :3)
