An Observation

(This is just something I recently noticed.)

So a couple weeks ago, I was at sleep-away camp. At that camp, we do this thing called "devotions," more commonly known among campers as "devo." Devo takes place every night in every cabin at camp. During devotions, the counselors just pick a random topic or question, and the campers would talk about it.

On maybe Wednesday night, the topic was "what are three things you do and don't like about yourself?" First of a all, I find it odd how everyone, including myself, said what they didn't like about themselves first. Anyway, when my turn came, I could think of three things I didn't like about myself (and why) almost instantly. But, it took me a minute or two to think of the things I actually liked about myself. I couldn't even think of a third like. So, out of timeliness (and so everyone me would shut up trying to help me), I just said that I like myself because I like myself.

As devo went on, I noticed pretty much the same thing with the other girls; they took no time at all to think of their flaws, and a a minute or two to think of their admirable features.

And that brings me to here. Today. 5 weeks later. The point of this entry.

It seems like people spend so much time thinking about their faults instead that they forget about their traits that they appreciate. Why is this? Is it because we live in a world of negativity and self-hate? Is it because we're just attention-seeking and want people to feel bad for us? Why can't we focus on making ourselves, and this world, a place of more positivity? We should should focus on our generation not doing what my cabin-mates and I did- concentrating mainly on our dislikes. We should spend more time thinking about the positive things in life instead of spreading negativity.

This is just a thought.

Thanks for reading, Kat Pack! <3 ;)
