One last nice scene. <3

Elizabeth peeked her head through the creaked door. Her cheeks were painted with a red color, pouting she barged in. "Michael!" She screeched, the brunette jumped while you ran to pull yourself away from him. Whatever the two were doing... it's done now.
Michael cleared his throat and did a cheeky smile, "Yes dear sister?"
"Can we get Ice cream?"
With some surprising thoughts Elizabeth still like Ice cream. It was almost as if she couldn't process that the dessert was almost responsible for killing her. Michael, who was much older, understood the key factor.
"Don't you want something... else?" his pleasure from before now fading into brotherly protectiveness. You answered before Elizabeth can pick a fight with her brother.
"That doesn't seem like a bad idea- might cheer up some tension around the house." Your suggestion causes a look from Michael. A screech of joy was projected in front of them, the girl danced around with a big grin. "This is perfect! I'll go get Evan!" Then like that, she was gone.
Michael let out a sigh, "y/n-"
"Nope. Not every ice cream vendor is going to lure us to death!"
Michael made a queasy face, you walked over there placing a hand on his. "it'll be fine... ok? We'll go as a family. Nothing can go wrong when we're not together."
Earning a smile from Michael- you decided to fill in your mother.
"That's a perfect idea! The whole murders are finally simmering down, the news finally decided they were last season. So I doubt Michael and the little one would get dirty looks." Your mother agreed, a cool dessert wouldn't hurt anymore.
Elizabeth was practically dancing up and down, she couldn't sit still. Even though, he clung to Michael. The brother's unfair treatment was gone, and Michael comforted the boy. But, Evan was always scared, he didn't like holding his plushies anymore. All he did was hug Michael's thigh like it was the only thing he could do.
On the drive to an ice cream place, your mind decided to catch up with still missing questions. Vanessa, who even was she? A long-lost sister to the Aftons? And Fredrick... how was he holding up? Did William do cruel things to him? (Was he even alive?)
What about those- "nightmare"
What were those? That gas that Vanessa let into the house, made the hallucinations(?) feel so real!
You let out a little groan, not to talk about all the side effects from the trauma. You were always lashing out, William was just everywhere. Taunting your mind!
A hand was placed on your shoulder. The sudden contact made you flinch, your hands balling on instinct.
"I can hear your thinking from over here." Your mom sighed, and a slight color of embarrassment washed over you.
"Look I don't know entirely what you kids went through, but... I'm happy to know you all are alive and safe. We can worry about the dark holes in this story later, let's focus on now. Ok?"
Your mother glanced at the backseat, your eyes following.
Michael had fallen asleep, Evan right next to him. His tiny head leaned on the eldest's shoulder. Elizabeth's head was being plopped up and down on the side right below the window. You let out a soft smile, the worries you had conjured up were already be washed away.
"Thanks," You mumble, and your mother smiled. "Anything for mi bebe"
"Hey! I'm not a baby!"
. . . . . ╰──╮
"WOAH! The Ice cream shop is so big!" Elizabeth's eyes were wide and her pupils were big, almost like a cat's.
"It really is- I've never seen such a huge Ice cream shop!" Evan stammered, Michael rubbed his eyes.
"Yes well I made sure to go to the best shop around here. I think you all deserved it!" Your mom coughed out pretty proudly. Quickly Michael sprung to his manners, "Ah! Thank you Ms. Jones!"
"Oh don't worry about it, I'm sure there's a playpen around here." You pointed out, your sentence bringing the excitement out of two little kids. "PLAY PEN" Elizabeth screeched, her hands rushing everyone to get into the shop.
That earned everyone a chuckle, Michael's hands intertwined with yours. "I can never find something to repay you with."
"You being here with me is enough."
His soft lips landed a kiss on your forehead.
"HURRY UP SLOW POKES!"
The color scheme inside were mostly pastel colors, pink and white being the most popular. The building was a smooth marble and inside there were kids wandering everywhere. Ice cream was on the left while a jungle gym was on the right. Parents talked while kids ran around. Something about the place gave you a nostalgic feeling. You were definitely sure Michael felt the same way, because his hand tightened.
Evan was being dragged by his sister, while your mom repeated orders to the ice cream man near the register. When she came back Elizabeth demolished her vanilla Ice cream, Evan was gently liking his chocolate, and Michael was sharing his strawberry with you. "Now don't cause a ruckus when your done, alright? And-- stick together, please."
Elizabeth nodded and pulled Evan away the poor boy was still trying to finish his Ice cream.
You and Michael sat on a bench near the jungle gym, giving your mom adult space. You tried to keep the conversation about good things, like the gang.
Something caught your eye though, a man- or woman? Came out of the staff-only room. They wore a rusty yellow rabbit suit with a purple vest on. The rabbit seemed clean and was designed with a huge smile on it. Nothing out of the ordinary was wrong with it, except for the coloring, it didn't match the aesthetic of this place at all. But just looking at it gave you nasty memories.
Michael followed your gaze, his eyes sharpening like daggers. "Too sketchy, we should leave-"
"No! Michael." You huff, his body was tense. He couldn't pull his eyes away from it. The bunny noticing their gazes shifted his body uncomfortably. It gave out a little wave, sure that was creepy. But you can't believe the mind of a teenager that has a bad experience with suits and animatronics.
You leaned forward and rested your head on his shoulder. "We're here to have fun, ok? To relax, I know it's hard. But we need to relax. We're just being paranoid, let's go back to talking and let the poor bunny person do their job."
"Lure kids and murder them?"
"Michael." You scolded, finally, did he sigh and give up. "Fine.. It's just a suit. But it still gives me the jeebies."
"Now that is something we can agree on."
with perfect timing, the redhead stormed right up in front of them with a grin. "Yes- oh!"
She pulled her brother and you into a big hug. "thank you- thank you- thank you- thank you!" She seemed overjoyed.
Michael smiled and let himself sink into the moment. "Of course, Beth! You are worth more than anything in the world."
The whole Ice cream place was a great Idea, even on the ride home it was still a popular topic among the kids. You were happy, they were happy, the family was happy.
But- you couldn't help but feel like that bunny was looking at you guys every second you left the building.
