I sighed deeply as I sat down at the lunch table with my friends. They all looked at me with deepest sympathy. They all knew I thought he was the one; my prince charming, my knight in shining armor. But this Romeo was not mine. He had seemed perfect for the past 6 months. Hell I’d considered giving him my virginity (thank god I didn’t!). This was number….. 8. The eighth failure in two years I had sincerely hoped was my soul mate. I loved him with every bit of my heart. I had planned forever around him. Too bad a junior high romance just isn’t made to last forever. He’d blown it all for that fake, blonde slut. Now it was bonfire time with my ladies.

Sammy, a dark (and I mean dark) haired beauty, with clear pale skin, rose pink lips, and bright green and yellow eyes sat next to Alita, a red haired, white skinned, grey eyed recluse, across from me and Allie, an innocent beauty, also fair skinned, with faun brown hair and brown eyes that sit on an oval face, always smiling. I stood out with my dark honey, short hair and olive skin. My eyes were hazel; they shown anything from yellow amber on a happy sunny day to dark chocolate on a depressed day, to grey on a very rainy murderous day. With my hair barely brushing my shoulders, my beauty shown feral and wild compared to Allie’s and Alita’s subtle beauty, and Sammy’s brooding Victorian beauty. Right now, three pairs of eyes, one greenish yellow, one greenish grey, and one a very caring brown stared at me in concern.

“Nannerz?” Sammy whispered. She knew I wasn’t exactly stable. After all, no one can survive 3 bullets to the heart, right? Wrong. I was the bionic woman. Nothing can kill me. But it can sure as hell slow me down.

“Yes Hammy, it happened. Are you happy you won now?” I snapped back. Immediately I regretted that as her beautiful heart shaped face fell.

“I didn’t want you to get hurt.” She whispered softly. “I just knew this was coming. I didn’t want you to get hurt.”

Sighing again, I hugged her. “I know sweetie. I know. It just… Hurts, okay?” Allie got up and hugged me too. Alita patted my back, which was a huge leap for untouchable her. “Girl time?” I asked hesitantly. “GIRL TIME!” Allie and Sammy yelled as Alita giggled. Soon the plans began, but I knew all I was going to do that night was bawl my eyes out. I really loved him. So freakin’ much.

Girl’s Night (Next Saturday)

We were sitting in the scuttle munching lemon cookies, drinking milk, and watching “Howl’s Moving Castle” (best movie ever) when it starts. Silvery tears race down my cheeks, unnoticed in the dark room. Unless of course, you are laying on two of your best girlfriends and all of a sudden they notice it’s raining. Holding me close, they let me cry my heart out, and soon, all four of us were crying for loves lost, loves past, and future loves yet to break our hearts. We sat in that room, and poured our feelings out to the black of night, sobbing and wailing. When all that was left was sniffles, Alita got up to turn on the lights. I smiled a watery smile at her, then at the other two.

“Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.”

“No problem love.” Sammy purrs jokingly.

“Anytime babe.” Allie winks.

“Anytime.” Alita echoes with a small smile.

I smiled broader, then sighed. “We are all part of the broken hearts parade, aren’t we?” Silently, they nod their agreement. “Only difference is, you usually break the hearts.” Sammy whispered. Hmm she seemed to be doing that a lot lately. I made a mental note to look into that later. “Yeah hon, I know.” I murmured back. “So…” I dragged out, trying to change the subject. “Who’s going to be my next victim of love, hmm? Who will be calling me toxic valentine this week?” I wink as Sammy giggles, catching my Good Charlotte and All Time Low references. “And more importantly,” I begin, dropping my tone low. “What shall I wear for ex revenge?” Sammy squealed as Alita jumped and grabbed her ears.
