Kavine's loud sigh filled the room as Kao finished his 5th bottle of beer. He ran a hand through his hair and attempted to grab the last bottle away from Kao but failed.
"He, he constructed a whole damn school for me. School. A school. Do you know how outrageous that is? Not even a house but a fucking school," Kao cried as he took a sip.
Kavine didn't say a thing and just leaned back on his seat. He was contemplating of calling Pete but the idea of Kao being inside his unit might piss the hell out of his stepbrother and that was the last thing he wanted to happen.
"I don't know what to do, Kav. I just can't accept it. It's just too much. I would definitely feel guilty if I accept it. I don't deserve it," Kao grumbled as he gulped the beer in one shot. "But at the same time, I felt honored. I felt loved. It's been years since we talked about my dream and here he is, making it come true. He didn't forget that detail about me, Kav. He didn't. He still remembers."
"Kao, you're drunk. Come on, I'll take you home."
"No! I can't afford to see Pete right now. I'm scared."
"Scared? Of what?"
"I'm scared I might break down in front of him."
Kavine sighed for the nth time.
"And I'm scared as well, Kao. I'm scared that Pete will break my unit down once he discovers that you're here."
And as if on cue, a loud banging on his door reverberated inside his unit.
"See? I'm darn sure that's Pete."
Kav was about to stand and open the door but Kao immediately flung his body on Kavine, pushing the both of them back on the couch
"Noooo. Don't."
The banging on the door become incessant and louder. Pete's angry voice then followed.
"Kavine, I know Kao is in there. Open this goddamn door or I'm breaking this down."
With all his force, Kavine pushed Kao away but the latter just won't budge.
"Kao don't make this hard for me. My brother's gonna beat the hell out of me."
"Nooo. I don't wanna see him. Not nooww."
Kao was obviously drunk. His droopy eyes pleaded as he looked at Kavine who was still pinned down on the couch.
"Fine. But you need to get off me."
But Kao just sighed. His eyes then fully closing as he dropped his entire weight on Kavine.
Just then, he heard the sound of the knob breaking and the door opening.
"You better pay for the damage your boyfriend did, Kao," he muttered before letting out a deep sigh.
His sigh then become heavier as he looked at Pete who was already glowering at him.
Pete then immediately carried Kao in his arms.
"I can explain. Fine, I won't. I'm sure you won't even bother listening based on your intense stares."
Pete didn't say a thing but his glares were enough. He then headed towards the door and just left.
"Great, now I have a door that needs fixing."

Kao's head was throbbing and the bright lights were not helping either. He tried sitting up but immediately grabbed his head as the throbbing worsened.
