Chapter 1 : OC Introduction

Backstory (long)

Harper is a sweet and silly 10 year old girl from a small town in the Shiganshina district. She has a happy, and loving family, but she does not live in some sort of fairy tail where everything is rainbows and unicorns. Harper has faced many hardships, and is constantly reminded of the cruel and selfish world she was born into.Her family was very poor so they couldn't afford for her to go to school (since her much older brother Ryan had been going to school for a longer time). This contributed to making her social skills a little rusty and she was often a little 'too friendly' to new people, with the acceptation of her family who didn't mind her personality unlike other people (who found her personality rude and presumptuous). (this is when her family starts to shrink)When Harper was five her father (who was in the survey corps) was killed in one of the expeditions. This left her whole family devastated especially her mother, not only being his wife,but also knowing him since her childhood. Soon after the terrible event Harper's mother became a serious alcoholic. The death of Harper's father not only impacted her mother, but Ryan as well. He did not want his fathers death to be in vain, so his death helped his decision on joining the Survey Corps ( he had already been training in the military, but it just influenced his decision). Three years had passed (making Ryan 18 and Harper 8) and Ryan came home terribly injured. During one of his missions a member of his squad had been in serious danger, so Ryan tried to save him. Luckily he did save his squad member, but through the process he had made the smallest mistake which cost him his left arm being chomped off. This was the final straw for Harper's Mother, because she couldn't take the stress of having children to worry about (the alcohol increasing this feeling). The morning after Ryan came home Harper went to check on her mother, but only found her lifeless body hung by a rope and a note. It said that her mother was sorry for being so irresponsible, but she couldn't take the stress of caring for them because she was afraid she would mess up even more. Harper did not take this well, and blamed herself thinking that if she tried harder to keep her motherhappy maybe she could of saved her. She tried to hide all these feelings and keep a positive attitude so her brother wouldn't worry, but he eventually found out so he was the only one who knew about her feelings. Ryan, thankfully was responsible and old enough to take care of Harper properly, and tried to work simple jobs he could manage to make enough money ( being physically disabled). Harper had to overcome many terrible events with her family (currently only being one person ), but nothing could prepare her for the tragedy that was going to occur during the fall of
Shiganshina.
