"Hey? Avery?" My older brother, Dom, asked. "Could you get me a corona please?"
"Yeah course." As I went to grab a corona, a red pickup truck pulled up outside. I sighed then looked down. "Hey, Mia? Can you take Dom his corona?" She didn't answer, she just took the beer off me and winked at me.
"Hey Brian."
"Hey Avery, what's up?" Brian replied, looking me straight in the eyes.
"Oh, not much. Tuna, no crust?" I asked.
"Depends. How's the tuna?" He replied, smirking slightly. God his smirk is heavenly.
"Hmm, let me think. It's crappy, just like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, and the past two weeks." I replied sarcastically. Everyone in the town knew how bad our tuna was, Brian was just strange and refused to try anything else.
"Then I'll take it." He said, winking at me.
Once I had served up his sandwich, we started talking and I found out that he works in a mechanics not too far away from Dom's workshop. He was in the middle of telling me a joke when Dom's crew rolled up. They were all fussing over Vince's car. I rolled my eyes. Leaving Jesse to fix it, everyone came inside.
"Whaddup girl?" I asked Letty.
"Wicked race man, you should of been there," She replied. "Hey Dom? Need a drink?" He didn't even turn around as he held up his half full bottle of corona. She sighed then walked away. Whilst this was happening, Vince had taken a seat next to Brian, and they were both currently in a dominance battle.
"Vince?" He still didn't look at me. "Vince? Vince!" He finally tore his gaze away from Brian. "Can I get you anything Vince?"
"You look nice," he replied, smirking. I rolled my eyes and sighed. Brian stood up, grabbed his wallet and left a bunch of ones on the counter.
"Thanks for the tuna. I'll see you tomorrow Avery." He said, backing away out the shop. Once Brian had left, Letty started counting to three on her fingers. Once she reached three, Vince stood up and followed Brian outside.
"Hey! Why don't you try going to fat burger? You can get a cheeseburger with double fries for $2.95, faggot!" Oh dear god.
"Mia, get Dom." I whispered to Mia. She nodded and walked away.
"I like the tuna here." Brian shrugged.
"Bullshit asshole, no one likes the tuna here." Vince replied, speeding up to catch Brian.
"Oh yeah? Well I do." That was the last straw for Vince. Brian was suddenly pushed into his truck. He rebounded with a punch to the face and Vince tackled him to the floor. I decided to jump in and jumped on Vince's back, giving Brian time to get up. He threw me off his back, making me land on the floor. Once he saw me with a cut across my forehead his eyes instantly widened.
"Oh. You're in for it Vince." I said through clenched teeth. I got up. My brand new jeans were ripped now. Just as I was about to jump at him, Dom came from behind me and grabbed my waist. Vince took this as an opportunity to jump at Brian again.
"Damn," Dom said, watching Brian fight Vince. "What did you put in that sandwich?"
"Real funny Dom. Just sort this shit out would you."
"Alright, calm down. Wouldn't want Vince to hurt your boyfriend now would we?" He broke them up and threw Brian against the hood of a car.
"Jesse, give me his wallet." Jesse handed over Brian's wallet. Brian himself was panting hard, clearly out breath from the fight.
"Brian Earl Spilner," Dom read out. "Sound like a serial killer name. Is that what you are? A serial killer?"
"Nah man"
"Don't come around here no more." Demanded Dom. He looked quite angry. He gave Brian back his wallet and started walking away.
"Hey man!" Brian started. "You know this is bullshit man!" Dom stopped. Oh shit. Brian, you need to learn to keep it closed.
"You work for Harry right?" Dom asked, pointing to Brian's truck.
"Yeah. Just started." Brian replied.
"Well you were just fired!" With that being said, Dom finally walked back inside. Everyone else trailed behind him. Everyone but me.
"Hey Brian? I'm sorry about Vince. He's a bit of a dick really." I said.
"Nah, don't worry about. He's just protecting what's his." He said, sadness in his eyes.
"What's his?" I asked, slightly confused.
"Yeah. He was just protecting his girlfriend. You know, you?" As Brian said this I burst out laughing. He thought me and Vince were dating? Wow.
"Ummm. No. Me and Vince aren't dating. He's too angry. Needs to let loose a little, you know?" I said, finally having recovered from my laughing attack.
"Oh. Well. In that case then, I was wondering if we could go on a date sometime?" He asked me.
"A date? Well, sure. Here," I handed him a piece of paper." This is my number. Text me sometime." I kissed his cheek and walked back inside, leaving a dumbfounded Brian behind.
