Fireclaw waited anxiously outside of the nursing den. Multiple wails of pain could be heard from his mate, Softpelt. Fireclaw was an orange tabby tom with a white chest and underbelly, and green eyes. His mate was a grey she-cat with blue eyes, but she had a twist to her. Instead of darker gray tabby, she had sandy-colored tabby stripes. She was unique and beautiful, but he was anxious to see the kits.

A blue-gray tabby she-cat, Blueleaf, poked out her head. "Three kits. Probably only two by morning." She mewed gravely. Her apprentice, Mistpaw,  padded from the medicine cats' den, carrying poppyseeds.

Mistpaw dropped the seeds at Blueleaf's paws before dipping her head and grooming her snowy-white pelt.

Fireclaw looked at the medicine cat expectantly, and was responded to with a nod.

A new voice spoke. "It is good we have more kits in SwiftClan." Sandstar leapt down from the Tall-rock. His curtains of leafy vines hung down over his den, concealing his mate, Fernlily. She wasn't much of a warrior, so she kept watch of the nursery.

"It is good, but only if they're healthy." Softpelt's mother growled. She never liked her second daughter, it was always about Fernlily, the pretty, green eyed, tortoiseshell she-cat.

Meanwhile, Softpelt was licking a brown tabby she-kit, warming her up, while her second kit, who was a blue-gray and white tabby, was already licked and suckling contentedly.

The other kit, the only male of the litter with a plain orange pelt, was dead. Fireclaw looked at the small bundle of fiery fur, and nuzzled it.

"Gone." Softpelt murmured sadly. "But you have two other little she-cats to spoil, Fireclaw." She tried to purr cheerfully with humor, but her voice failed near the end of the mew.

Fireclaw turned to Softpelt and rubbed muzzles with her. At least the two other kits have these two to play with next moon, he thought to himself.

-One Moon Later-

(Let's just say cats know what sarcasm is xD)

"Come on, Bluekit!" Tawnykit, the brown tabby she-kitten with beautiful green eyes, meowed excitedly. Today was the day the apprentices got their warrior names, and Tawnykit loved seeing it, despite her want to be a medicine cat.

Bluekit groggily got up out of the nest, blinking away sleep grumpily. "Yeah, because I'm just full of positive energy." She growled slightly. Bluekit gave her kitten fluff a quick grooming before nudging awake her other friend, Pinekit, awake.

Padding out of the nursery quietly a such a young age was no much of a good idea. It was freezing. Bluekit scrambled back into the nursery, and curled back up in her nest. When she was an apprentice, she vowed to work all of this sleep and uselessness off of her record.

Sandstar watched the little kit. He had no idea if her or her sister were the cat of the prophecy.

"When the kin of fire meets the wandering one, peace will come after the battle of Sky and Land."
