The Cottonwood Investigation

Chapter 2

As the officers descended the turning, rotting stairs, they were welcomed by another door. But this door was different, it wasn't like the other doors that the men have come upon. This door was a huge heavy duty metal door with four very complex locks accompanying it; that had looked like it had just come from a high security complex . Next to the unbelievable door was a simple glass case. Inside held the four different keys that would take the door's impenetrable steel protection away from this unknown territory.

The second officer that was accompanying the three decided to unlock the complex locks. To his surprise the locks were much heavier than they looked and were slightly rusted. As the last lock was taken off the banging stopped. It was like whatever that was inside knew what just happened and that the door would soon be opened. There was now only an eerie silence between the men in front of the metal door. Finally, Officer Laurence attempted to open the door. With all his strength the door slowly started to give way and with this came the most awful, disgusting smell ever imaginable. Immediately Officer Laurence stopped and covered his nose,as did the rest of the men; to shield their nostrils from the unknown smell filling the room.

One of the officers commented, " What the hell is that smell!?" The other officers also commented, " It smells like something that died in a sewer." After a couple more outbursts in complaint of the odor, there was a very low sound like a humming. Instantly the gentlemen stopped and looked at the cracked door, then at one another. The humming stopped, which left silence once again , but not for long. Seconds later a huge bust of air flew open the heavy door with no effort knocking over the men, revealing the content of the room.

For a few moments the men sat there in disbelief of the whole situation that they were in. Finally the officers got up and looked inside the room. The room was poorly lit but from what could be made out of the darkness was a horrifying scene. What the men saw was like a scene right out of a horror movie.

Inside the first part of the dwelling was a long room, filled with medical devices, huge tables filled with cages, which were either empty or had unknown stains lurking at the bottom or rotting creatures inside. The floor had puddles or smears of dark liquid everywhere even some of the unknown smears were on the walls. At the far end on the left hand side of the room there was a doorway, which would most likely lead the officers to the source of the disturbing sounds.

Through the shock of the images that the men's eyes were processing inside their brains, they proceeded through the surreal surroundings to the doorway. As they go past the objects that surround them, they struggle to keep themselves from losing their minds and their lunches along with it. But right before making it to the doorway one of the officers pukes in between one of the last tables and gets some of it on the wall. After he gets himself together they proceed back to their destination.

Just as the officers enter the doorway, a huge bang escapes from another part of the basement startling the men. It seems to have come from a deeper part of the level, where they will soon be. The next room they enter is smaller it was filled with, what seems to be torture devices of all kinds. Again the room has many smears and dark puddles on the floors and walls.

At the end of the room to the left of the doorway is another doorway, which will lead the officers to their destination. As they slowly make their way to the final room, a quiet laughter starts up which gradually becomes a bit  louder as time progresses. The officers start to become on edge as they made their way to the laughter. Getting closer, and closer till they're one step to being inside the room. Then the laughter comes to a dead stop and, so softly, what sounds like a woman's voice saying," Are you here to kill me after all these years?"
