I sprung to a sitting position on my bed, like a cat that had been startled by unwanted guests. All around me I still saw place, country, land, whatever the hell you want to call it. But I was awake right how could I still be dreaming when I was clearly awake. I pinched myself, because it seemed to always work for one of those characters in fantasy novels. You pinched yourself and you would find that you were only dreaming. How the hell this was possible I'm sure that I went to bed in my house, so why in heavens am I in a meadow in the freaking middle of nowhere. Calm down Ellisa, this might just be one of those hallucinations Dr. Norton said would be a side effect of your new drugs. If this is one of those hallucinations it was pretty damn good. I could feel and smell the gentle wind, it carried a strong scent of jasmine and lavender entwined in one another fighting for dominance. The scent may be sweet for others but for me it was slightly nauseating. I have never really liked fragrances. Jasmines and thousands of other flowers grew bountifully all around me. They went on and on forever and seemed to stretch off into the horizon. Nothing but flowers lay all around. They swayed in the gentle wind dancing gracefully to a song not heard. Well this is a strange dream, I'm pretty sure that dreams are a representation of the subconscious and well I am pretty in tuned with my subconscious because never once have I had a dream or hallucination like this. My night fantasies have always been about adventure, dangerous, unimaginable, wonderful adventures. Mom had always said it was strange how unlike the other children who preferred to use their thingamajigs I would always be outside living and looking for adventure. So why the hell am I in a peaceful, do peaceful it could make me puke, dream or hallucination whatever it is.
Well I might as well enjoy it. I lay down in the flowers and closed my eyes the world and myself were at peace and the sun shone brilliantly even through my shut eyes I could tell how bright it was. I started to fall into a trance like sleep, and then it was dark. Ring, ring, ring. It was morning, but unlike other days I was not grumpy to get up. Instead I felt rejuvenated like new life had been given to me. That dream had given me the best sleep in my life. Well time to get dressed. I got up and went to take a bath the cold water felt good, "Ellisa, it's time to get up honey. Do you want breakfast honey?"
"Mom I'm already up, I'm in the bath so tell Dyllan not to come in yet, and yes I do want breakfast." My mom gave a gasp she couldn't believe I was up already, and I chuckled because I had surprised her. Never in her life would she have imagined that I would be up this early and want breakfast. To her this was like seeing her six year old kids eating their vegetables with joy and enthusiasm while saying no to candy being offered to them. "Well I never thought I would see the day you got up on your own and want breakfast, the skies must be falling." All I could do was laugh." Um, honey could you please use the hot water today I know how much you hate it but its awfully cold outside."
"Sorry, no can do mom, I just can't stand the feel of hot water and besides the cold water makes me alert."
"Well anyway, when your finished breakfast will be downstairs. You better hurry or you'll be late for school." Breakfast was quick, as I found I had overnight developed a ravenous apetite I did not know I had. "Dyllan we are leaving," mom hollered at the top of her lungs.
"I'll be down Ma."
"Well mom since Dyllan isn't leaving anytime this century I'll take the bus."
"But Ellisa you hate the bus."
"It beats waiting for king of the narcissists to finish his make-up. Either way it's not like riding the bus every now and then would kill me."
"But..........." I ran out the house before mom could get another word in. The bus drove up a second later. Well here goes nothing.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Ms. Elissa Veltrump. I guess you decided to join us commoners on the bus"
Ugh, why did the sound of Sabrina Thompson and her goons always give me the bumps. Sure she was beautiful and all with her long legs, rather pale skin, glossy seductive lips, always tight second skin like clothes and hair to die for, but on the inside she was uglier than a squonk. Come on how could people stand to be around someone as mean as her. "Could we not do this today Sabrina, I mean it's already a pretty cold day, why don't we save our body heat for something else." Sabrina's attention was no longer directed at me but instead on Wesley Brant, the so called and self proclaimed, "Most Gorgeous man in school." Thank god cause I'm pretty sure my come back was the worst recorded in history, I'm pretty sure if someone had recorded and share it, it would become the Guinness's Book Of Records, worst come back ever. That is if such a thing existed. "Hey Elissa I'm back here." Ahhhhh, an oasis I thank the heavens for people like my best friend Chad Hendricks. His gentle smile could calm a storm, he was one of those people who everyone was drawn to, not because of money but because of his personality. He was also one of those lucky persons who was extremely gorgeous, yet for some unknown freaking reason they didn't know how gorgeous they were. Well at least he's my friend, no, BEST FRIEND, and I his. And as such I had to deal with his admirers continually hounding me for his personal information, I'll give them one thing though, well actually two, they truly know how to pick someone to fall in love with. And they were persistent, like a dog in heat chasing after a mate. They never failed to amaze me at the lengths they would go to be near him.
