I'm not crazy. I'm not "special." I'm not mentally unstable. I'm different, but not crazy. I may seem...clinically insane, but I'm not. I see things, people, events that haven't happened yet. I don't know how, but what I do know is that when I was 8, I saw my pet get run over, at 9, I could see a nuclear war happening, and by 10, I could see a monstrous army invading New York. I decided it would be best if I got my new abilities checked out, and the next day, a man came knocking down my door, demanding I come with him or my loved ones will die.
I'm currently residing in a cell next to my friends. I talk to them a lot, especially late at night, when my insomnia keeps me up. They went through experiments, the same one that I'm supposed to go through. I don't know what to expect, because neither of them will talk about it. I try to use my current power to see what it was like for them, but I can't look into the past, only the future. I tried to see myself doing the experiments, but that doesn't work either. My visions aren't controllable, and I can't choose when I see what.
"Hey, Pietro, Wanda? You two awake?" I murmured, knowing at least one would be.
"I am, but I think Wanda fell asleep. I can't hear her in my mind, so that means she's either asleep or unconscious." I heard Pietro's voice talk smoothly, slightly muffled through the metal wall. It was quite thin, allowing us to speak normally.
"Have you ever thought about having a normal life after all this is over?" I pondered aloud, pulling on the hem of my shirt. I had a pair of jeans on, along with plain sneakers, good for running.
I imagined he was nodding, "Yeah, sometimes I even see you in it. Usually it's in a big house, and Wanda and I have a few children, who have powers like ours. Then, you're there, and you're very pregnant, and you move things out of the way before a kid can run by, because you knew they were going to hurt them-self."
I smirked, making a humph noise. "That sounds nice."
"Do you think we'll be allowed to see each other after you go in for the experiments?" He asked, then I heard a whirl, which meant he had used his super speed when he didn't mean to. "Crap!"
I giggled, then spoke, "I'm not sure, the guy in charge is mean, but maybe I can get him to let us. I can't see us together at all in the future, but the future constantly changes. I'm still trying to get a handle on my power." I tugged off my shoes and went under the thin blankets that were on my bed.
"We should leave this place, and make our own future someday." He said suddenly, making me stop abruptly.
"You promise?" I asked, my voice hopeful and weak.
I could imagine he nodded as he responded, "Promise."
That's all I needed to hear before settling down into bed and closing my eyes, but I wasn't going to sleep just yet. "Pietro, can you sing a lullaby? One from Sokovia?"
I heard a chuckle, then his beautiful voice rang out, singing a song that was quite possibly from his childhood. The foreign song helped lull me to a dreamless sleep.
