Here We Go Again- Chapter One
Rose's P.O.V.
I hear deep calm breathing next to me. Curious of whom it is I peel my eyes open. I expect to see the familiar baby blue of my room but instead I see black. I blink a few times and open my eyes widely. A navy blue ceiling fan spins slowly surrounded by a black ceiling. Confused I attempt to sit up but I am unable. I glance next to me to see a young man with his arm wrapped around me. I start to scream but slap my hand over my mouth before any noise comes out. I stare at the man with wide eyes. I remove my hand from my mouth slowly and let out a relieved breath. The man’s eyes snap open and I flinch away like a scared puppy. He chuckles and kisses my cheek tenderly. He caresses my cheek with his large hand and looks into my frightened blue eyes.
“Rose. I won’t hurt you.” He says calmly in his sexy voice. My eyes soften and stare into his hazel ones.
“How- How do you know my name?” I ask quietly, my voice squeaking slightly.
He smiles and states, “One, your necklace. Two, you told me long ago.”
When did I tell him my name? Who is this guy? Why am I in his bed? How did I even end up in this house? I have so many questions. “Err… Who are you again?” I finally ask.
He stares at me blankly before breathing deeply and speaking as calm as possible. “Rose, we have gone to the same school since Preschool and have been friends for years. Do you seriously not recognize me? Maybe this will help...” He sits up and turns to where his right shoulder is facing me. I look closely and can see the white dove shaped birthmark located there. It’s like mine… I gasp and stare at his face in recognition.
“Carter?” I squeak.
“Yes, Rose. It’s me.” He says. He swings his legs off of the bed and stands up.
My eyes trail from his gorgeous hazel eyes to his toned chest and abs. I blush furiously and avert my gaze from him. He smirks at me and offers me his hand. I reluctantly grab it and he lifts me off of the bed. I feel his arms snake around my waist and I look down. I notice that my only clothing is a large black t-shirt. My eyes go wide and I snap my head to look at Carter. He blushes slightly and bites his lip. “I- I wanted you to be comfortable while you slept.” He explains quietly. I smirk at him.
“Carter, you and I both know that you have wanted to see my without clothes for a very long time. Don’t lie to me if I know the truth.” I say. He blushes furiously and looks away.
“If I admit it, will you stop looking at me like that?” He asks me biting his lip.
I smile slightly and lean forward to whisper in his ear. “No need to admit it. I know.” I lean back and kiss the corner of his mouth. I lift my hand and playfully slap his cheek. I wiggle out of his grasp and plop back down on his bed. “So, um, how did I get here anyway?” I ask.
He scratches the back of his head before saying, “I, uh, carried you. You fell into my arms at the beach and you were passed out so I kind of, took you home with me.”
When he finishes talking, I take in my breath sharply and look down at my bare feet. “Oh, uh, thanks.” I say quietly.
He sits down next to me on the bed and looks at me. “Is there something I can do to help, Rose? You can tell me anything. If it is something that I did…” He says concern laced in his voice.
“I’ll be fine.” I lie quickly. “I should probably get back home now.” I say after a long pause.
“Do you want some food first? You look pretty thin. You should eat.” He says offering me his hand once again.
“Sure.” I say reluctantly. I gr4ab his hand and he helps me to my feet.
“Is there anything you would like this morning, my lady?” He asks in his British accent.
I smile. “Can we have pancakes? Pwease Carter?” I ask in a childish voice.
He chuckles. “Yay! Pancakes!” He screams and runs out the door. I hear his soft footsteps pad down the stairs quickly.
I laugh and take off after him. I get to the bottom of the stairs and see Carter standing there facing the dining room. I almost run into him but stop myself. I can then hear two voices talking in front of Carter. I lean around Carter’s body and peer into the dining room. Then I understand why Carter is so still. Carter’s parents are sitting at the table. His mom’s hair is up in a perfect bun, her face is absolutely beautiful. His dad’s suit is pressed neatly, his hair combed perfectly. I freeze in my spot and turn my head to look at Carter’s expression. He looks back into my eyes. He seems scared.
