~KATERINA~
"Harry stop!" I yell at the beautiful curly headed boy who is currently chasing me around the garden
"Not until I catch you" he yells back laughing he uses his super speed to catch me and knock us both over in the process
"Harry my mother is going to kill me!" I yell jumping up and straightening my huge dress and corset
"She won't mind" I glare at him and start walking towards the house
"Yes she will Harry we are having dinner with the mayor and I'm so nervous he wants to find out if we are vampires if he catches us we are dead just like the Salvatore's the second he knew what they were he staked all of them and burnt down there house. I don't know what I would do if he found out." I say sadly turning to him
"He won't darling. I promise you will be fine and I will see you tomorrow morning for church." I laugh a little
"Don't you think it's a little sick." I question him
"What?" He asks back holding my hand
"That we are vampires which are practically conceived as demons and yet we go to church." I laugh a little
"I never thought of it like that."
"Kat listen don't worry I love you and we will be together forever literally nothing will tear us apart not even a pompous mayor." He caresses my cheek and kisses me sweetly
"Katerina!" I hear my mother yell
"Yes mother?!" I turn to see her standing on the stairs
"Come wash up love." I nod and give Harry a slight bow he returns and kisses my hand
"Till tomorrow love."
I nod and turn to walk to my mom once I get to the bottom of the stairs I hear her gasp
"Katerina! Look at your dress go get changed now that is not a presentable appearance for the mayor."
"Yes mother." I bow to her and walk into the house to the grand staircase up to my room once in there I quickly change into a deep red corset with a black skirt that is huge and floor length with my black heels and put my curly hair up in a bun with a few strands falling out taking one last look in the mirror I sigh
Tonight is the night the mayor will have dinner with us to see if we are vampires although he claims it's just a friendly dinner but any family who he has a suspicion of he tests them and if they are vampires he kills them my parents and I have taken all precautions to make sure we are ok but in the pit of my stomach I know something isn't right.
"Katerina his cab just pulled up come down." I hear my father yell I quickly run down the stairs and stand by my mother the help lets the mayor through the door and he greets my father
"John, thank you for having me for dinner its a pleasure." My father gratefully shakes his hand back
"No thank you mayor it's truly an honor" I internally roll my eyes at the comment I'm not violent and I don't drink from live humans but I would love to rip his throat out and taste his sweet blood I feel the veins under my eyes popping and quickly fake a sneeze
"Bless you. And call me James please."
"Yes well why don't we head to the dining room" my mother says moving her hands towards the room with the long table set with 4 places he nods and follows my father I say nothing and sit down in my chair with him watching all my moves
"I'm sorry I've never met your daughter your name is?" I jump at his sudden interest in me
"Katerina"
"Ahh Katerina beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He smiles I quietly thank him and focus on my food
My dad and mom eat before I do and start choking I quickly smell the air and I smell vervain that pig!
"I knew it! You blood suckers!" James yells jumping up and taking 3 stakes out of his jacket pocket I immediately try to run only to be stabbed in the back I feel the stake go right past my heart I decide to just lay here and play dead I see him walk to where my parents are on the ground
"I am sorry to do this but the world is a better place without you animals." I quickly remove the stake from my back and pin him to the wall until I feel a stab in my chest I look down to see a stake sticking out right where my heart is feeling my strength go I reluctantly let James fall and I feel my legs go from beneath me falling to the ground I see my father crying and yelling for me James first stabs my mom and I try my hardest to scream but can't next he takes out my dad he turns to me and smiles
"You would have made a beautiful bride it's to bad you were born a monster" he turns and lights a match lighting the curtains on fire I feel my body completely giving out and can see nothing but black.

~HARRY~
I was sitting at my desk when I felt a sting in my chest knowing something's wrong I quickly ran to the front door and down the street to Kats but when I get there I see my worst fear coming to life her house is up in flames with the mayor and the rest of the town proudly standing there I go to stand with the other vampires off to the side seeing Greg one of the elders also Kats dads good friend
"I'm sorry Harry." He says patting my back
"No they had to make it out." I say shaking my head
"I'm sorry son but they didn't we all need to pack and leave especially you being her lover you have a target now leave while you still can."
I take in his words and quickly run to my house to find my parents and tell them but when I go to find them they are gone I only find a note
Dear Harry,
We have left. I'm sorry son but we must separate for all of our safety go now son before they find you we are sorry about kat but your love will live forever in your heart just don't forget we love you and so did she.
Feeling tears stinging my face I wipe them away and grab a bag running out of the house and to the road to wherever I'm heading I have no idea all I know is I lost my family and the love of my life.
