Pt~16 The Employees

I still didn't know how Axel was gonna get out of there,but he left through the stairs towards the recetion.

I went in my house,and waited.I was clearing out all messages,and call logs.I knew it was useless since they could pull it up,but what i needed was time.I had to drag out time untill i could sort it out with whoever the higher up was.That was what the target was.

The silence in the room was deceptive—thick, choking, almost screaming.I sat still, knees drawn to my chest, the only movement being the rise and fall of my breath, shallow and quick. My heart drummed against my ribs like it was trying to punch its way out, as if it too wanted to run and hide. But there was nowhere left to run.It was time to face.

 Her ears strained to catch sounds she didn't want to hear.I hated how exposed the air felt—how it seemed to cling to my skin like a spotlight.

"Had I missed something? Were they already inside? Would I be able to lie with a steady voice if they questioned me?"

Memories of control, of confidence, of being untouchable—those all felt foreign now. Right now, she was reduced to a breath, a heartbeat, a trembling silence. The canvas people were coming, and all she had was the silence between the knock and the storm.She just waited—eyes wide, soul bracing—for the crash, for the unraveling, for the truth to meet the floorboards.

And the doorbell rang.

Noah's POV

I Just got a call from Maria.Lilith's house had been raided and was being speculated to be done by Ronan's dad."Keep it from Caleb from now,you both better not come here for a day atleast.They might take you in for interrogation,or worse check your house too.Just check if there are any goods in Lilith's previous office Noah."

I could feel my cheeks flushing and i tried my best to mantain my composure in front of Caleb,who was talking with Ronan outside Llilith's house.Ronan was apologizing about what happened at the company dinner.

"Maria,are you with her?" Lilith should not be alone at such time."Dont worry about her,Axel is with her and als-" I cut her off "It's not about her Maria" I could feel Ronan's eyes on me now,he was with Caleb,but was trying to make sense of my words.

"Lilith doesn't hide out of fear. She hides because she's deciding what to do with those who dared to come for her"

Maria cut the call,and it all felt real now.I didnt know what to do,all this was so surreal that it almost made me question Ronan.Caleb turned towards me "Noah! Should we leave?I'll drive. I walked towards them,mantaining eye contact with Ronan."Caleb,I have to go back to get some paperwork from old office,you will have to come with me" I couldn't even make up what to say to him,if he got to know about all that was happening,he might have raged off to her house.

"Alright,ill get the car here" he replied and nodded a bye to Ronan which he returned with a small smile.I stood there still uncomfortable about the phone call.One thing that i had forgotten was,how good Ronan was in reading people.

"What is happening Noah?" he asked me,with straight face.God I forgot how much i hated this ability of his."Ronan" I paused,trying to map out if he might know it,i looked at his eyes for few seconds to understand what consequences might be.He wouldn't have known right?He came for help,Lilith is the one with uppehand,eventhough she doesnt consider it.

I sighed,I had to reach and search the office fast.Fuck it.

"Lilith is my priority,even before you.If I found you had a hand in thi-" I saw Henry looking at us through his main gate and I realized I was shouting,I stopped.

"Ronan would'nt, right?" Thats all that went in my mind.He just looked at me,I didnt know if Ronan was trying to understand what i'm saying,or if he was checking the waters.I stood my composure back,and walked away.

I saw Caleb waiting for me in the car at some distance,he was on a call with someone.I dashed to open the door and sat,"Caleb,who is it?" I asked rubbing my forehead,me reading his whole face for any sort of expressions or clues.

I could see Henry looking at Caleb.

"Damn wipe your sweat off,it was Nicolai.He was asking where I was,I had asked him to catch up later sometime.He missed you a lot too" I could feel some weight off my chest,I took a breath,calming my tense face,and we drove off to the office. Lord have mercy.

When Ronan saw their car leaving,he called someone,the line rang for a minute or two and he picked up."what is happening?" there was no voice back from the other side.He looked around,no one was there except Henry leaning at the frame of main gate.Ronan walked towards his car fast paced.His breath heavy and whole body felt weak,as Noah's car passed them.

"Dad sent someone huh...He knows where I am,right?!"

Th put the phone away from his ear,his arms felt heavy,and all he could do was look at the person beside him.sounds of almost pleading still came from the reciever. Till when will dad cover his dirt! She was his blood too! 

With one hand holding the reciever,the other reached Nicolai's shoulder,Eric patted his back with a dull nod.
