ALESSIA AMATO

I laugh as my body gets drenched, courtesy of wet Lessie shaking himself off in the bathroom. Now when the streets are wet and muddy, he gets very dirty after walks. He also comes home soaked from playing in the snow.

My relationship with Liam has resumed being a dream come true. Sometimes I feel as if my heart is about to burst from the amount of love I feel for him. The man makes me smile everyday because of how he cares for me.

We've been going to therapy. I've been working on how to cope with being alone with myself, which rarely occurs thanks to Liam barely leaving my side. I've been trying to accept that lonely time doesn't mean that everyone has left me and I'll be my myself forever, but that it's quality time with Alessia. Time that allows me to be alone with myself thoughts, to work on myself.

Liam has been very slowly trying to understand why being so controlling is wrong, which I still think he doesn't believe in, and how to stop the need to constantly check in on me. Therapy hasn't been so useful to him as it has been to me although I'm grateful that he's so willing to attend it.

Lessie and Liam, my two favourite boys, have been having their ups and downs. Actually those ups and downs have been very one sided. The dog likes Liam a lot, there are very few people that social butterfly would dislike. On the other hand Liam gets jealous sometimes, unsurprising but still shocking.
How can a grown man be jealous of an animal?

However Lessie gets top quality food, he's taken to the best groomer and vet in the city. Even his toys are expensive. I guess that's what it means to be in Liam Smith's care. So I have a feeling that the man also likes the dog, even if it's just a little bit.

My dad lied when he said he'd rip out Liam's tongue. When the latter used his skilful words to get out of trouble, my dad was a lost cause. He's back to believing that there's no one out there that's more perfect for me. When we announced that we're engaged, I thought the older man would pop a vein from excitement.

My mother was also really happy but I could see it in her icy eyes that she hasn't forgotten about my fiancé's questionable ways. Mia's been very similar. She's relieved that I'm no longer a despaired tear machine but her concern for me is almost tangible. Although, the woman's extremely enthusiastic about the idea of a wedding.

Outside it's cold and snowy, in contrast to our apartment where the joyful atmosphere brings me warmth and comfort. Even now as my clothes are wet and the bathroom is a mess, a wide grin is plastered onto my face.

I glance at my fiancé to realise that his blue eyes are  already looking at me, causing heat to rise to my cheeks. His brown hair is messy, clothes soaked but his dimples are there, giving away that he's happy. The handsome man reaches for something in his pocket and turns to me.

"Alessia," he starts. "Will you be my wife?"

My heart skips a beat. There's a moment of shocked silence and then the huge grin reappears on my face. Tears immediately fill my eyes as I throw myself at the man in front of me. Breathing in his sweet scent as I strangle him, I feel his big arms wrap around me tightly.

"Yes! Yes, yes, yes!" I scream, earning his shoulders to shake from chuckling.

Lessie starts barking and jumping at our entwined bodies. Liam retracts himself and reaches for my trembling hand to slip the probably expensive ring onto my finger but I can't see a thing through the tears. I'm sobbing. I chose to express the amount of happiness I feel in this beautiful moment through ugly sobs.

Liam pulls me back into his arms, pressing a kiss against my lips, his warm tongue demanding entrance as his hand finds its way to the side of my face.

"I love you, my darling Alessia." The words leave his addictive mouth as he unfortunately pulls away.

"I love you, too." Crying, I throw my arms around his neck once more.

Our weird fucking journey to find love in each others greedy hearts was one of unravelling a darkness that we didn't know if we could handle. I was running away from loneliness as he waited, his arms open with his insatiable hunger for me. But we grew to discover that this was what we wanted and needed, finding comfort in our craving feelings for each other.

Our love bloomed into one with dark and twisted petals, however the flower is still as beautiful as any.
