That Night
I stared into the mirror in our team's bathroom, unaware to comprehend what I was seeing.
"Hey Pyrrha, stop hogging the bathroom! Ren needs to shower!" The girl named Nora yelled as she was banging on the door.I ignored her, only staring deeper into my reflection. No wonder everyone had been obsessing with my eyes and hair, they looked amazing! I walked out of the bathroom, nodding at Ren on the way out. Later that night, I was awake after everyone else had fallen asleep.
I pulled out my scroll, and went onto my web search function.
"List of Colors With Examples" I typed in, and on the first link, I was blown away. There were so many colors I had never even pictured could have existed! There was my hair, a deep shade of red called "Crimson". Then there was Nora's symbol, called "Pink". I made a mental note to memorize these as I closed my scroll and went to sleep.
The Next Night
As soon as everyone fell asleep, I looked at the website again. I was still in awe over what I had been missing my whole life. I looked at the more complicated colors, as well as some pictures. I saw a link at the bottom saying "Color Quiz", and decided to click on it to help test my memory. If my team knew I didn't even know my colors, or even that I hadn't seen them until two days ago, I would be embarrassed beyond belief.
"Do you not know your colors or something?" I heard Jaune's voice call from next to me.
"What? No, I like to do mundane quizzes and other activities if I cannot fall asleep. It bores my brain, and shuts it down in a way. Kind of like you in Professor Oobleck's class." I replied hastily, closing my scroll.
"Pyrrha, you were stone-faced even fighting that Nevermore and giant scorpion in the forest. Why are you panicking now?" Jaune replied, scratching his head."I just- I just didn't know you were still awake!" I stammered back, pulling my blanket up to my shoulders.
"Pyrrha, that was also the first time I've heard you stutter. What's wrong?" Jaune asked, leaning up in his bed.
"Nothing. I'm completely fine."
"Wait a minute, you said I was doing something to your vision in the forest."
"Please don't let him figure it out."
"And now I see you taking a quiz on which colors are which."
"No, please no."
"Are you colorblind?"
"Damn it." "Yes, I've been colorblind my whole life. In the forest, when you were struggling to get out of the tree, I was able to see color for the first time. I'm not sure how."
"Oh."
"You seemed to be the source of the color, since only about twenty feet around you was colored."
"Oh, well I guess that makes me the cause of it. Sorry to freak you out, but I have no idea what's causing it."
"Me neither, but let's get to sleep before we wake up little Mrs. Pancake over there."
"Agreed."
