Celeste's POV

The door closes behind me and I watch Xavier run into the woods, probably off to meet the guys wherever this attack is stemming from. I wait for him to disappear into the treeline before I begin my hunt.

The pack house is already quiet. Everyone either having left it or having locked themself into one room or the other. My heart thrums in my chest, a sense of anxiety having started to consume me.

Delian went to the packhouse this morning? Chances are I was already gone by then; Xavier and I having packed the picnic in the early hours and leaving after a training session together. I try to calm my heart rate, needing to focus. I take a deep inhale. The packhouse is always so crowded with different scents. Despite the lack of visible people, their scents still crowd my nose. Delian smells like wildflowers, like dirt from a freshly played at playground, like grass on a cool summer day. I try with all my might to make out the scent.

"Delian?" My voice fills the house, unsure. Unsteady. "Delian, are you here?"

No response.

I trail along the hallway downstairs, trying to catch her scent. Nothing. Upstairs is the same. Worry churns in my gut.

'Xavier?'

'Are you okay?' His voice is calm and immediate. I imagine he hasn't gotten to the guys yet. To the rogues. That itself brings me another wave of anxiety. I push it aside.

'I can't find her.'

'Go to my office, Celeste.' I sigh, frustration building in me. He doesn't seem to get that she's lost. She was looking for me and now no one knows where she is. There's rogues attacking and we don't know if she's okay. 'I have five warriors looking for her on the pack grounds right now.' That brings me a small sense of relief; to know I'm not alone in my search for her.

'And?'

He's quiet for a minute. 'Nothing so far.'

A queasy feeling fills me. I open several doors. My room, the library, Xavier's room. "Delian?" Nothing.

'Celeste, go to my office.' I ignore him, my determination growing. 'Please, Celeste.'

'Xavier, I need to find her.'

'You need to stay safe. I won't be able to focus if I'm worrying about where you are and if you're okay.' I bite my lip, opening another door at random. 'Please, little one.' I stop in my spot. That stupid nickname.

'Fine,' I give in, turning around to go to Xavier's office door that I had passed by already. 'I'm in your office. Stay safe.'

'Remember: lock the door first then press the button under my desk. Close the blinds.'
