The masked man tilted his head to look me straight in the eyes. His golden-brown eyes visible through the mask were filled with anger and determination.
"It's an order." he stated, his voice echoing off of the stone walls.
"But we've done nothing wrong! We've abided by his terms and remained faithful throughout the years! You make a mess, we clean it up! You call for help and we provide it! We've followed all of his orders and kept all of your secrets!!" I protested, trying to change his mind.
"Are you sure about that?" he questioned, challenging me.
"Yes! We would never do anything to harm you!" I cried, glancing at the hooded figure hiding in the shadows behind him.
"Someone tipped off the police of our existence, someone betrayed us." he growled looking behind me.
"We didn't d..." I tried to beg.
"He sees you as a liability and a threat and threats must be eliminated." he said, wavering, still glaring at the space behind me.
I followed his gaze to see my 15-year-old brother standing on the wooden stairs. He was scowling.
Slowly I pieced it together.
"What did you do?" I snapped at him.
He tore his gaze away from the masked man and focused on me.
"I only did what any normal, sane person would do! They are the monsters here! Not me! So don't look at me like that!" He snapped back.
I looked back at the masked man, finally understanding why they were here. He almost seemed to ease a bit, as if a great weight were lifted from his shoulders.
"Hoodie!" He barked.
The man behind him stepped out from the shadows.
"Report to the operator and tell him that we confirmed the identity of the traitor and that he is to be eliminated immediately." he ordered.
Hoodie nodded and left, growling as he passes my brother on the stairs. My brother had a deathgrip on the railing and had paled. His eyes widened.
The masked man started walking towards us, drawing a revolver out from his back pocket.
I begged for him to spare my brother but my pleas were ignored. He shoved me out of the way and I slammed into the cold, concrete floor. A burst of sparks flying across my vision as my head slammed onto the floor.
And that's when I was deafened by the sound of a gunshot and the walls were painted in warm, red blood.
