I am Amelia Dante the only child of Christopher Dante. I do not lead a life like most nineteen year old's. My father runs the largest spy company in the world protecting society's superiors- XY US Intelligence. This meant i grew up learning self defense and how to hold a gun, although i have never actually been on a mission before. I have stayed undercover for the majority of my life and am constantly being watched. I'm the only family my father has left meaning he would do anything to ensure my safety even if it involved death. Muscle machines were always with me whenever i went out which is embarrassing and extremely annoying. I am perfectly capable of defending myself and i intend to prove it.
My fingers were stiff and sore as i wiggled them freely after they had been clenched around a trigger and been stuffed into boxing gloves all day. I hated working out i always found it pointless and tiresome, so when that clocks hit 10:00am i'm out of there.
The hallways were all the same, painted white with wooden flooring no sense of creativity anywhere. The place was suppose to be seen as confusing to any intruder who had actually managed to get past 9 sets of security, meaning they would be captured before anything serious occurred- that was the plan anyway. Cameras were hidden in the walls along with doors leading into weapon rooms, not that i actually know where they are.
I live here yet it never seems to feel like a home, i felt that i was part of an institute. I've never had a family that gathered around a dining table or had barbecues in the summer whilst playing games. In stead i eat alone and watch death play with life. My fathers office is one of the few routes i know like the back of my hand. I twisted the handle not bothering to knock, making my presence known. The two people my father was sat with instantly became quiet gathering their belongings and leaving. My father rolls his eyes.
"Thanks for knocking" His voice sounded bored.
"Your very welcome, now why did i have to make this tiresome journey to your office?" I said a smile cracking on my face.
"Take a seat"
I did as he instructed sitting in one of the leather chairs which was sticky from the previous person. I smiled remembering how i would climb over these as a child and my father would constantly tell me about how i would ruin them but never told me to stop. The room always had dust in the air despite the bullet proof windows at the rear of the room. The walls were lined with bookcases filled with documents and a fire on the west wall, that was only ever lit around Christmas time. My fathers desk was enormous and was a dark oak with spiraling legs giving it a powerful look, on it he had a green gas lamp and piles of paper. The ceiling was my favorite it was painted white but in the center lay a black circle surrounded by a gold patter that would make my eyes hurt from staring as it for so long, from it hung a chandelier that would show all colors of the spectrum when the sun shined just right. Two red leather chairs sat in front of the desk with silver lining along the arm rests. I was snapped back from admiring the room when fathers voice sounded.
"I am going on a trip which should take an estimated two months, i shall be taking thirty XY workers with me leaving us short here, so i have arranged for four of Britain's top spy's to take there place, i trust these boys and they shall be informed of their schedules involving you and the compound. Jason shall be left here as my second in command. If something is to go wrong you are to follow their orders and i don't want your poor attitude coming in the way is that clear Amelia?"
I rolled my eyes at his business voice giving him a sense of authority.
"Why are you leaving? And i don't have a poor attitude I'm not three anymore dad I can do what I want" I crossed my arms copying his stance. He sighed taking off his glasses and pushing his messy grey hair back, he looked tired.
"Amelia I am doing this because I love you not because I want to keep you locked up, I am going on business terms which do not concern you, i'm also going to get one of the replacement lads to train you as Derek will be coming with me"
I'm part of this business and grew up in it yet I am left in the dark about everything. As for Derek leaving i thanked my lucky stars as i would finally get a break from his workout plan which was suppose to raise my stamina levels but really all it did was kill me. I decided i would not fight him on the matter as he would probably win.
"When are you leaving?" I questioned
"In about five hours, go have something to eat i will let you know when i am leaving, oh and Amelia?"
I turned around from making my way to the door, he was smiling at me.
"Take a shower you smell"
"Shut up" I rolled my eyes smiling making my way to the kitchen.
