"Sarah!" Mother called, "Get down here please!"

"Coming mom!" I yelled back. It was a warm summer day. A day that woukd change my life for the worse.

"I want you to go down to the creek and hang out with your sister and brother. They came up by the house and wanted you to come down to the river with them."

"Okay mom. When should I be back?"

"I'll come down to get you when it's time for supper."

"Thanks!" with one giant leap I was out the door, thick black hair and all. Down and down the hill, running at the speed of sound, all the way to the creek. I was thirteen and it wasn't cool to 'play' but I didn't care. I was running so fast, colors flashing past my view before I could process it. I raced into the bank and almost trampled my sister, Anne, when I came flying in, even though she was fifteen and much taller than I.

'Hi Anne! How are you on this lovely day?" I asked.

'I am fine, thank you," Anne responded.

"Say, where's James?"

"He told me he was going over to throw rocks down by the bridge,"

My heart skipped a beat. I raced down the river, hoping I wasn't too late. James was only four, he didn't know how to swim! I was running like the Devil himself was at my heels, but he had already beat me to the little boy. My bare feet were caked in mud, but I didn't care. I just wish that I had come outside sooner. I ran and ran and ran, my white, lacey dress chasing behind me like the ghost of my brother. I got to the bridge, gasping for air. I frantically surveyed the scene. When I saw James, I almost coked. With tears welling up in my eyes, I staggered to the edge of the creek where he was laying.
