Me and Elli drank to a toast of vodka and sprite, we got drunk and told really dumb jokes and got sad over the memories we had in school. I pass out on the floor, while she passed out on the coffee table. No, not her body on it, more like she was sitting on the floor and rested her head on the table. I, on the other hand, was flat out on the ground. Face planted into my rug. I woke up to Alayna throwing up in the toilet, and I sat up. It was eleven a.m. My eyes blink slowly, checking out my surroundings. I had a horrible migraine, and my stomach was queasy. I throw up in the kitchen sink. "Fuckkkkkk." I hear Alayna mumble from the bathroom. I feel her pain. But today is the day we leave. For, I don't know, somewhere other than here. My mouth twitches into a small smile just thinking about it. My dull life will spring into a new one. I hear pounding on the door and I grab a wash cloth, wiping my mouth. I drag myself to the door.
It's a small grandmama (my grandmother).
Wait, no, it's Gaby.
She looks at me with concern in her eyes, "Are you hungover?" She asks almost flatly, and I shrug. "Are you still in a relationship?" I say grumpily. Not the best thing to say to her, but I'm pissed at the world right now. It looks like it stabbed her, but she's trying to shake it off her shoulders. "What the hell are you doing?" She says, peeking into my apartment. Clothes are scattered everywhere. "You have my number." I wave at her, and close the door. She's knocking on it more, and I fall to the ground clenching onto my stomach. Damn, this hurts. I regret mixing vodka and whiskey together. I stand up and look at the time. It's one in the afternoon. I go into the bathroom and see that Alayna is wrapped in a towel with wet hair, her cheek smushed against the counter, sitting on the toilet seat. "You need to pack." "I'll just buy clothes when I get there." I sigh, "Man that's gonna be a lot of moolah." I mutter, shoving my hands into my khaki cargo pants, looking for my keys. "You stay here and be comfortable, our flight leaves, well, whenever." I walk out and begin my terror of walking down stairs. I hate waking up stars just as much, well, no, even more than walking down, but me hungover? This is a death wish. I grip onto the railing with whatever life I have left and I'm crawling down the stairs. By the time I reach its been twenty minutes. I hurry and rush into my shit car, it's a old rusty ass jeep. It used to be silver, but I haven't washed it and I've left it outside for so long. I've had this piece of working junk since high school. I drive to Alayna's house, and I climb through the back window. I get a bag for her as just stuff as much clothes I can for her. I grab her glasses too, and a few of her art supplies. I want her to sketch the things we see so we don't forget. Oh yeah, since it's the "future" and all, we don't use cameras anymore. We use this really expensive thick card, it's like glass, and it projects the picture onto it, and if you project the light of the picture onto any surface it will print onto it in color. So yeah. Too broke for that shit. I have an unused disposable camera, but I'm not exactly sure if it still works. It's like, thirty years old. I pray to God it still works. I sling the back pack of Alayna's against my back and I rummage through her stuff to find a passport. My grandmother's husband was in the military, so I get on without a background check. I get in the car and I zoom back to my apartment. I find Alayna dressed into my clothes and laying on the couch eating ice cream, and watching a sports anime. Typical. I put her stuff by the lamp and I sit on the floor. It reeks of throw up and alcohol in here. Thank God it's fall; not too hot, not too cold. I open the windows and spray febreeze around the house. I sit on the couch with her are stare at the TV.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Dunno."
"Well... If anything, I want to see Germany."
"'Kay."
"Anything you want to see in particular? I have forty thousand bucks thanks to my mom and dad's savings put together, and a little help from my brother."
"Hm... Pretty much all of Europe and Japan."
I nod. "Well, let's head to this small island called Barra in Ireland. I remember it from a show I watched."
We got up and I closed all of the windows, and I let Alayna out the door first. We got in the car and I drove us to the airport, the ticket for Bara was only three hundred bucks. And now we wait.
