SKYLAR

Rage. That's what I am feeling right now.

Thursday. December 26th. Jake and his mother, Whitney have disembarked in Texas to meet with my parents for the contract negotiations. I was happy to see my Omega again, and Dad was content to save time on a trip to Colorado.

Everything was going according to the plan, except my dad came out of his study looking mad at me for telling the Andersons that I would rather abdicate from being Alpha than being away from Jake. I understand how that could have been interpreted as leverage to a smart woman like Whitney, but I did not think that far ahead at the time.

I was just being honest, which I have been to everybody who matters in my life.

Apparently, Whitney asked for a huge settlement for her son in the form of a "penalty clause" written in our marital contract. For those of you who have never been married or even signed a contract, penalty clauses are a fast way for the party who breaks the binding contract to reimburse the other for their troubles.

If you sign a year-long contract to live in a condo but wish to move out in six months, it's only fair to pay a fine to your landlord as compensation for the loss in revenue. This practice is standard worldwide.

If I leave Jake, he would use the "penalty clause" to receive a large settlement, and we would terminate the contract. Or if I moved after 6 months instead of a year, the landlord activates the penalty clause, and I pay a fine for leaving too early.

So, it came as no surprise that in the event of a separation, Jacob would get some form of compensation for his troubles. Because he would have invested in the relationship with me, he should be compensated if ever he gets sidelined. It's not a big deal.

Whitney asked for an eight-figure sum for her son, which is a lot, but not so much when you are negotiating with a millionaire. I didn't expect her to fly all the way to Texas from Colorado and not have her effort make it worth the trip. She is a smart woman, after all.

Nothing I said so far surprised me. What is surprising, however, is my father's reaction to her big ask. He doesn't want to agree to that much money being paid to her son. I concur that ten million dollars is not pocket change, even for him, but that alone should not warrant such a strong reaction from dad. It's not like she's asking for shares of the company.

What I quickly understood is that Frederick Stronghold does not believe I am that serious about Jake. Deep down, he still thinks I will go for a girl down the line because he has only ever seen me with girls thus far - yes, I am counting Mandy as one, as I should. And so does he.

I never advertised the occasional hook-up with boys, that's true. It was always fleeting, momentous occasions where I'd get a blow job from a closet case. I don't deny that my father seeing me with a boy was a bit of a shock, but I never hid the fact that I am pansexual from him.

I am fully aware that my dad is a straight man who does not understand sexuality and its complexities. He does not understand fluidity, and I do not fault him for that. What I do fault him for is not trusting me in my decision to prospect Jake.

If all that I wanted was to be with a man or to experiment, I could have done that before I went to Ravenwood. Not to brag, but there wasn't a queer boy in high school who did not want to be with me at some point. I am good-looking, excuse my lack of modesty.

Jacob Bryce Anderson is not the type of boy one experiments with.

I would NEVER have wasted my time pursuing him if this were just about 'having a fling', as my father put it. I could have had a fling with any boy that I wanted, but that is not what this is about. I am not experimenting with a boy. Likewise, I am not trying my luck with an Omega - if I wanted that, I would have had sex with Mandy, but I never did.
