I walk over the high rubble of the city that used to be known as London. Where am I standing right now? Apparently, I am where Buckingham Palace used to be. You see, when all the continents collided into one, Pangaea, all the cities came tumbling down. Years before the disaster, scientists from all around the world knew something would happen on the Dark Day. Though I doubt they thought that all the continents would collide on December 21 2013. One thousand years later, we all wish that someone had listened to those not-so "mad" scientists. Now, my generation and many before mine have to live with the rubble from some of the most magnificent cities in the world, of the cities I will only be able to see in pictures. The world combined into one whole country, Agrium that is separated into states. Each state has one representative that is in a group of leaders. Those leaders try to decide what is best for the country as a whole, but truth be told, we all hate their guts. They have no idea the effect that their actions make us suffer. All of our buildings are underground, so now we have to take elevators down miles and miles to be able to get where we need to go. The fumes from the collision made it too harmful to live above ground for the first hundred years after the Dark Day so the whole population of people moved underground.

I step into the elevator leading down to my school. My first class is History. Right now, we are learning about the Drawing. The day of the Drawing is the day we all fear for our lives. The Drawing is this afternoon. I walk through the halls of my school and rush to class. I sit next to Alice as the teacher goes through roll call, "Mary Bally…" "Here!" I say. "Alice Connolly…" "Here!" Alice, my best friend responds. Once roll is taken, the teacher starts talking about what we should expect later today, even though we have all been in the Drawing since we were thirteen years old, this is my second year in the Drawing.

In the Drawing, ten children between the age of thirteen and twenty are taken into the government's custody and then are put into a part of the continent that hasn't been explored yet. There is a letterbox hidden somewhere in the area. The rules are simple, #1, only one person can find it, #2, you can kill anyone who is in your way,#3, only one person comes out. Why would the government do this, to show their control over everyone and to prevent crime.
