Shadow lay in bed, flailing around like a person not able to escape. She was, in fact, trying to escape. She was trying to escape her nightmares.
"You little bitch," her foster father hollered. "I've been calling your name! When I call your name," he slapped her. "You answer. Understand?"
"Yes," she responded terrified.
"Yes what," her foster father bellowed.
"Yes sir," Shadow squeaked.
That night, Shadow woke up to the sound of feet shuffling outside her room
Oh no, she thought. He's coming back again.
She then heard the door open, and saw his outline, and heard his evil snicker.
"The best part about this," he whispered in her ear, making her flinch. "Is that you can't tell anyone. Even when I'm dead, you'll always be afraid of me."
